i just changed leads and plugs and battery, the car wont turn over, shes trying to, but every time it gets close its just backfiring really bad. i dont wanna keep pushing it and blow something.
the car never use to run on petrol, so i dont wanna try starting it on petrol, cause it could cause problems.
i know if i did get it started on petrol it would warm the moter and hopefully un freeze the gas.
what do you all reckon i should do? or what else could it be?

any answers at the moment would be a big help, cause i dont got a clue

if it's not "turning over" then is can't possible be " backfiring"

please explain what it is doing better.

auto or manual?
if manual then tow start.

did it used to run?

I think you may have a stuck valve or something similar.. rusty bores? valve seats?

Leads are definatly on wrong then. You should of left the old ones on till you ran it first. Large backfire on startup is usually due to too much gas and then ignition =BANG!. Once you sort leads check oil and coolant levels then drive it easy for first few kms and be easy on brakes to wipe rust off then you should be all good>
