I was wondering if I am getting good economy or not- Its a stock ef ghia V8 only with Redback 2.5 sporty, with LG gas conversion/ sprint gas ring. Car is tuned to Gas-

I do *75% freeway (100 on cruise)
*25% Local driving

I return 14.7 litre's of propane per 100km's of driving. Which at the moment is costing me something like $5.60 per 100 ks! (at .38c p/litre)

I think thats fairly good- and reckon that you'd be pushing hard to get that sort of $ to km average out of a toyota echo!

Anyone else with stockish Windsors on LPG wanting to share stats? :)

I get anywhere between 15 to 18L per 100kms in my cammed windsor station wagon. I don't drive like a poof either so I guess it's pretty good economy considering.

My NF v8 uses 18L per 100 average around town, not sure about the highway. Havn't done a long run in it. But a mixed highway and city drive is well over 400Ks

My stock EFII V8 Fairmont wagon gets just below 15l LPG/100km and at 51c/l makes it only $7.65/100km. With approx 75% country driving (80-110kph) & 25% town driving I average 52kph. That's almost half the cost of the old 2l 4cyl petrol thing i was driving (11l/100km @ $1.10/l) over the same roads. :D Now i don't have to thrash the motor to go fast & have fun, but i still do occasionally

I have just bought an NF 5.0L
First tank got 265 km out of 68L. 25.66L/100km
Driving like grandpa and in economy mode.
2nd tank got me 280 km 24.29L/100km
economy mode off and sticking the boot in where i could.
Either way this thing really chews the LPG.

Several things effect the ecconomy like the tuning of the gas setup (inc moving parts on the intake), plugs, leads, timming, air filter, tyre pressure, overall weight, wind drag, for an auto the gearbox and converter play a roll, engine compression.

I recently went to Bunderburg for a drive from Brisbane, town drving I get 300+, but the highway I got 480klms, not bad I say. But I do have a new auto and fairly new lpg system (recently tuned), new plugs, leads, air filter.

Thanks skozzy_ak
Been a long time between drinks for me and the Ford family - my last Ford was XA coupe which i sold in 97 ( a mistake which still haunts me)
Ok so mines not that bad.
tuning of the gas setup (inc moving parts on the intake), plugs, leads, timming, air filter are all to be done in the next week or so.
Tyres at 34 psi checked weekly
The Auto is about 60,000 km old i was told - however the gas system was installed 1996 so that could be half the problem.

After 10 years the tank is supposed to be retested for leaks and rust etc..

But I also have an LPG ED Wagon 6cyl , it has a system about 15 years old on it and it get an easy 380 city and 600 highway. It's on of those original non electronic setups, so the in my opinion the age of the system don't count for much, just the rest of the car and how well its going.

I also have a 4runner, its on LPG as well, the system in that is new as is my Fairlane and they are the same system using the same parts, but machines are well maintained and the v8 Fairlane gets much better distance then the 4runner v6, what makes the difference there is the 4runner is a heavy machine compaired to the fairlane.

Fletch, it seems to me mate that you have an issue: I have a 1995 EF Fairmont Ghia V8 - stock, apart from custom 3 inch exhaust. It has a LG complex convertor feeding a typical sprint gas mixer ring- With moderate use of the right foot, and mainly freeway cruising- I can constantly return between 14 - 14.5 litres of LPG per 100km.

For that sort of economy you are returning, Id be using some soapy mixture on the gas fittings/hoses underhood- Look for the bubbles mate, Id say you are losing gas.

I doubt even with a power valve screwed fully out, rich mixture , MAF issue's(dunno if Aftermarket installations even use MAF calculations??), low tyre pressure or whatever- Mid 20 litres per 100 means a problem.
