hi.

is it possible to build i6 engines to desiel spec and have same power so it runs on diesel inatead of petrol. ifso what parts do you put in the i6 ford engines and what manifolds do you use to make them run on diesel.

also is it possible to put gas on diesel engines. ifso how?

how do you make the ford e series trip computers and original electrics and wiring and dashboard work with the diesel engines

I'm going to say no so you don't waist your time.

better off pulling an engine out of a HJ75 cruise of something.

Actually, I'd love to know how a falcon would go with a 3ltr turbo from a BT50

i dont quite get what you mean. if you mean compared to the original engine fitted to a falcon, then it looks very different. its pretty big, and yes it would have to be inspected, and it would be pretty good on fuel seeing as it pushes a 2.5ton landcruiser no worries.

it would also cost about $25,000 or more to get one running in a falcon id reckon. (including cost of new engine)

this thread hurts my brain

no you cant convert an 4.0 i6 to run diesel

no you cant fit a toyota v8 diesel to an ef

you want an economical and powerful car buy a BA and fit gas injection.....

They're gas aided, they run a little tank and slap in gas with air combined with diesel, more bag etc.
You still need diesel.

An E-series with a powerstroke in it would sound sweet!

Perhaps you could just fit a Toyota 1H-DT or Nissan TD42

Diesel in a falcon or converting the engine to run diesel - Of course you "could" do it. It just isn't worth it if you are looking for economy. The initial cost would far outweigh the savings for a very long time!

Best bet is to go a liquid gas injection setup on your current falcon, or sell that & get a BA, then get liquid gas injection on that. A Xr6T would go rather nice on liquid injection, you wouldn't need a bigger FMIC to run a fair bit more boost, as the gas would help cool the inlet charge.

Cheers

I have seen a diesel powered EA fairmont before (I was searching turbo falcon on google a while ago looking at setups to turbo my ED falcon) and came across a EA fairmont ghia that had a 2.8 Turbo diesel hilux mootor and 5 speed in it but for the life of me i cant find it again was in australia tho was on a mod forum somewhere looked sweet and like it was at home. If i find it ill post pics up or atleast links.

That's a 4cyl engine, and i don't think they come in turbo format in the earlier hilux. Surf version has same engine & could have turbo version. You can get after market kits for them, my g/f's bro fit one to his 98 hilux (I think it's 98), but his is the 3lt 4cyl. Rebuild kits are not cheap for those engines, but they do take a lot of abuse before they die! Toyota coaster mini busses might run the same basic engine.....

Cheers
