ok, got the kit...will be assembling a doc on the steps to strip, clean and rebuild the converter/mixer, mod the high pressure line, where to get parts etc etc with detailed photos and exploded diagrams...will be detailed...wanna help everyone out..stayedtuned

Wow what an interesting read! I am a qualified mechanic with 20 years experiance, I did not like LPG for years then decided to pay an LPG installer to fit a system to our family AU wagon. Then a few issues had surfaced so i decided to work at a differant LPG shop to learn more about it. I found they had wired it up wrong, & plenty of other isuues i had to fix myself. Then no fault of the installer my convertor became contaminated with tar (known fault in QLD), I rekitted the convertor & tunned it on a dyno.
If i didn't work at an LPG shop i would never have attempted to work on it myself, I have seen what damage they can do!!! |

Be interesting to see whether rebuilding the converter was warranted - I get the impression that any logical faultfinding was ignored, and the most risky and last resort steps were used instead.I've overhauled an Impco Model L converter (as probably many have), and yes it isn't hard, but someone QUALIFIED did check my work, hence the point of many posts in this thread. And through faultfinding, the converter was proven to be the issue.

What's the benefit of name calling? Absolutely nothing, but on topic, I think it's good people are willing to try and to learn new things. And it's good people in the know are willing to give advice, it's just a pity some people won't listen

Yes it is good to learn new things. But playing with bombs is not a good practice. If you really want to know how to overhaul a converter go to school and learn then you will know how. Or get a job working with a fitter and under supervision learn how, not in your back yard with info off the net. Regards TPVM.

The manufacturer have a very detailed Master Catalogue on their website which includes a lot of information on LPG system operation, equipment application etc and exploded diagrams. I won't attach the full doc here as its very large. There is also an Australian company in VIC who sell aftermarket kits to fit OEM equipment such as IMPCO, prices are very reasonable.
