Hi there guys, I have bought myself a 1995 EF Falcon Futura withdual fuel. The gas system has been installed this year Feb. by the previous owner and was installed by parnell, the car has done 167,000 Ks. The car runs sweet on gas but when i switch it to petrol it starts missing, and RPMs drops and rises. When i press the accelerator the car hesitates to goto high revs. When i switch it to petrol from gas while drving then the car doesnt wana increase the speed, when i press the accelerator to the floor the speed starts increasing with hesitation. The car does start on petrol and stays on but tries to stall.I've been told different things like change the spark plugs, change the fuel filter, change the leads. I have checked the leads, they are awrite.Any help will be appreciated as i am new to dual fuel cars, cheers.

As station said, injectors are a must.
My AU started to run like s**t on petrol within a cpl of months on LPG, all because of injectors running dry and gumming up.

Once they're gummed, injector cleaner wont do s**t... As above, also new ones aren't that expensive these days, will pay to shop around.

Hi Sam_Rizvi
Go to Toyota and grab a bottle of Genuine Toyota Injector cleaner, cost about $23.00. Full bottle to half a tank and drive it until you have used all of it, by then it shoud be clean if it is ever going to be.

Certainly sounds like the previous owner hardly used it on petrol - if you run it on petrol say, 20 kms or so after filling with LPG, that should maintain it. Petrol goes stale over time, so do use it fairly regularly.
Back to your problem, replace the fuel filter first, because you probably won't know when it was last done. Then tackle the injectors, then the fuel pump if there's no joy.
Fuel regs don't seem to suffer with neglect - although you can't really rule them out.
Good idea to put injector cleaner in your petrol for prevention - as mentioned, usually when the injectors are clogged, it's too late.

Dual fuel vehicles are generally good to diagnose problems - if your problem lies with one fuel, then it's most likely to be an issue with that fuel system, items common to both, e.g. ignition, O2 sensor, etc, will usually show up regardless of which fuel is being used.

snap0964 if the fuel pump is not functioning then the car shouldnt start properly and if it does then should completely stop if the fuel is cutting off, checked my fuel pump, its awrite, changed the fuel filter, still got the same problem. Now i have to say the injectors need to be cleaned/changed.

Just because you can hear the pump running, doesn't mean that it's operating at 100% - underpressure, the check valve leaking, can all cause problems that you're getting, but you wouldn't know it unless you properly test the fuel pump - How did you test yours??

The other thing is to tackle the higher probability and cheaper items first - i.e. fuel filter and injectors.
They may/may not fix your problem (if it does it's a bonus), but the work is not wasted because they would've needed to be done.

i checked the fuel pump functionality while changing the fuel filter. When i removed the fuel filter,i turned the ignition ON and i found a fountain of fuel from the fuel line coming from the tank :D

Cut open your old filter, should make for interesting viewing.
