any ideas anyone? problems still there, changed the oxygen sensor today with no change.

thinking about pulling the converter out and apart, renewing seals and cleaning the unit

nah i wasnt going to bother as it has been there since 1994 when the car was built and the gas system was installed.
what would it change apart from filtering the air going into it?

does it have an inline gas filter? gas produces alot of "wax" . it's probably not wax but it's the only way i can explain it. most converters have a little filter inside or some newer systems have a removable gas filter. if it's replacable, replace it. if not just clean it

theres nothing outside inbetween the converter and tank, so idasume if there is a filter it will be internal, i have heard something about gas being "waxyy" and what you just described, and tbh that was my first instinct, oh maby the jolt from the crash dislodged something inside the converter and has buggerd it up.

but i thought id ask ppl who know more about it all on here first, when my tank of gas runs out ill fill with petrol and take the gas converter out for a while and rebuild it and clean it all up.

btw i did move the balance pipe to the intake side of the air filter box, problem still there, was really bad thismorning, even half throttle it was strugleing to power on, but then after sitting for a while it drove really well. very odd problem

thanks for all your advice mate, Cheers, Rob.

i've done my gas ticket at tafe. it's like a thick build up of crap. the only way i can physically describe it is like wax

just a few thoughts. first basic one, Does it have a full tank of gas? the power surging sorta happens to my car when i dont have gas. secondly, taking the convertor apart would be a good idea. i remember my gas guy taking mine apart. theres a very thin barbon paper like seal that lets gas through. that coulda mabye have torn. thirdly, had some power surging with the car jolting on my old subaru. that was due to a stuffed up alternator. just some thoughts.
