This is the fuel pump I have just pulled out of a EL that didnt have the fuel pump switched off when running on gas.
The connection to the pump has been burnt off and the other connector melted, It was blackened and charded, its a wonder it didnt blow up.

By the charred and burnt wiring and plastic it looks like it actually caught fire in there.
The only reason I can think of why it didn’t go bang was due to lack of oxygen. I don’t know the history, I have inherited the problem of sorting it all out and every thing I look at turns the s**t. I had purchased a new pump and then found that after I pulled it out, lucky I had a wrecked EL in the back yard to pull an old unit out of. It highlights the issue of not running on petrol on a regular basis so things don’t turn out like this |

Hence the whole argument for half a tank of fuel in a dual fuel car.
If you dont have the fuel pump running, instead the injectors gunk up - the fuel in the injector nozzles evaporates and leaves just the crud. On a straight LPG Car there is no excuse for leaving the fuel pump connected. |
