Hi crew,

Just getting a few ideas on what my car could be worth, an expression of interest you could say. I have a figure in my head, but i just want to see what everyone thinks. Okay, so where do i start?

-Car Specifics-

Car: December 1996 EL Fairmont Sedan
Colour: Factory Regency Red
Km's on body: 295,000
Km's on engine/trans: 30,000
Fuel economy: Averages around 650-700km's per tank

-Modifications-

Engine: 2003 BA DOHC 4.0l inline six, brand new genuine alternator, brand new genuine power steering pump, custom power steering lines, modified EL airbox with K&N filter

Transmission: BA 93LE four speed auto, braided oil lines, 250x300 oil cooler, speed sensor in extension housing, stock tailshaft

ECU: BA custom tune, can be flashed just like any normal BA, diagnostic connector in fuse panel, EL Ghia ECU retained to control climate control and instrument cluster etc

Differential: Stock 3.08 open

Exhaust: Pacemaker headers, Manta 2.5 mandrel bend single muffler exhaust, twin tips

Suspension: King superlow springs, Monroe shocks and struts.

Wheels/tyres: CSA Gladitor 18x8, Marshall 235 45 ZR18 with 80% tread, no burnouts in this car.

Interior: Ghia shift surround, woodgrain trims, BA style steering wheel, also have a load of Ghia stuff in the shed that i just havn't gotten around to putting in yet, DL instrument cluster with operational door sensors (EPROM has been transfered), stereo may be included comprising of 2 Alpine amplifiers, Alpine 6" component splits up front, Alpine 6" two-ways in back, Alpine 12" subwoofer, Pioneer deck, Aerpro capacitor

Exterior: Ghia front bumper moulds, Ghia rear bumper mould, painted door moulds, fairlane turning lamps, BA bonnet bulge

IF i was to let the car go, all the turbo parts i have gathered up will be going with it along with a shed chock FULL of 'E' series parts. At the moment i'm just looking to see what people think the car is worth BUT if a serious offer arose, i'd quite seriously consider it.

Let us know what you think :)

By the way, pictures are in my user gallery.

Hello,

This looks pretty sweet... How hard and how much stuffing around did it take to get this BA donk in there and going? I think a tech doc needs to be made up for this one... :)

Please share how...

Thanks,
Tim

Less IMO because its still a car thats >10yrs old, just with some updated running gear. That mont by itself would be worth about $4k.

Thanks for the feedback guys, i appreciate it. Like i said before, i'm not in a rush to get rid of the car, but if a decent and sensible offer arose, i'd seriously consider it. It also depends on if i can get the balance fo the car that i'm after.

I wouldn't be asking anything more than 10k that's for sure. It is getting a bit long in the tooth, not saying that it's not mechanically sound, far from it, it's just that it's classed as an 'old car.

If you follow the link Bsjenko has posted up, that will give you an idea of the effort, blood, sweat and tears that has gone into getting the car going.

Yeah, every now and then i get a bit excited and want to get a new car, but then it dies down again and i decide to keep it, not so much these days. Not that there is anything wrong with the car, it's just that i'm getting a bit bored with it and would like a new toy to play with.

Dr_Hoon wrote:

Nah, it wouldn't be worth anywhere near a BA, unless it was an ex-taxi lol. But in saying that, i have seen BA's going for under $8,000.

Anyone interested at all?

I may have found the car that i'm after. If all goes to plan, my car most likely will be traded for a lot less than what i'm expecting...
