Hi all,

"Project Standardisation" is on for my trusty EL Futura.

I've taken my RPD (Actually Alted Performance) cam out of my car, and putting the standard cam back in.

This was the old Alted Stage 3 cam, I think the grind was renamed to RPD R4. Maybe someone can confirm this. The cam has only done about 5,000km in my car. The car hasn't been driven since March, hence the low mileage.

I'm also selling the Rollmaster adjustable cam gear to suit. Unfortunately I cannot provide the valve springs and shims to suit.

I haven't decided on a price yet, open to offers. Will post anywhere in Australia.

Cheers,
Adrian

Thanks for that Mitch.

I believe the specs were 600 thou of valve lift, and around 232 degrees of duration at 50 thou.

Again I'm just going by memory.

How will this work with an auto?
Im guessing its a shim type not billit, How many shims were used?
Did you dyno it and if so what mods did you have?

i believe you need a high stall in an auto. apparently they are lumpy and whine.... i always wanted a RPD cam for that reason.

Yeah will not work with an auto. It's very lumpy.

It's a regrind so requires shims. I was following the install guide provided by Jaysen at the time of purchase to install the shims and was using stainless washers. Initially I didn't shim it correctly and resulted in many many smashed washers. The last time it looks like I got it all right! When I took the cam out, the washers were in one piece!

It was dyno'ed, not on a dyno dynamics dyno tho, and is reputed to read lower. It made 140rwkw while starving for fuel. I needed to get my injectors cleaned, but never did. I'm lazy :) The cam can make more power I'm sure.

Besides the cam, a 3" mandral intake, pacemaker extractors and lukey exhaust, the engine was stock. To date the head has never been off it.

Grechie,

I'd say it is. It would have more lift for certain. Not sure about the duration of the Dev 5 however.

Here is a recording of the idle, how lumpy it was. It was a little cold here though.

Ok, Just looking back at what I paid for it all..

I paid $280 for the cam on it's own.
And $350 for the valve springs and vernier gear combined.

I'll just reiterate that the valve springs aren't available, I no longer have the tools to remove them, and I'm done taking the rocker cover and rocker gear off :)

How does $220 + postage for the cam and the gear sound?

Also my car has only ever had fully synthetic oil in it since I've had the cam, it's only been bathed in the best ;)

Is this the one made for a Manual? I have a Manual EL running off an AUTO ECU, will the idle be better then the auto box? or is the rougher idle due to the ECU?

cheers

phong =P~

EDIT: and that is some lumpy idle

Phongus,

It is made for a manual, or an auto with a high stall.

I don't think the idle will be any different to my car with a manual ECU. The reason it's not suited to an auto is because of the high power band. off the line in an auto would be incredibly slow, where as with a manual you can drop / ride the clutch to keep the engine in the power and get away at mach 3 with smoke trailing :)
