Hey guys, i bought my 98 fbt fairlane about 6 months ago as a project car, but saving money to do her up is taking to long. So i have decided to sell it. It has only been driven twice i think since i bought it.

Its a 98 NL FBT
Build number 72 of 102
Its got 245xxx on the clock
80% tread
Brand new radiator

*** Unfortunately there is a problem with the engine, when it warms up it has get low oil pressure. I've had it checked out by a couple of different mechanics and it seems to be the low end bearings are warn. I was going to re-build the engine to replace them but i have run out of money.

Apart from that the car is in good condition and is a real eye turner.

If anyone is interested in buying my car, make me an offer i was hoping around $10000

pics coming soon

When we say "low" oil pressure, What does it get to on the guage? Does the actual low pressure warning come on? Or just low on the guage?

And have you checked the sender. Mine had a bung sender, would be all fine for about 30-40 mins diving, then would drop for no reason at all, all the way to 0 and lights and beeping and stuff. Turn car off, start again and all good. Get the sender checked and see how it goes from there.

the oil pressure is fine till she heats up then slowly it falls to eventually the warning light comes on, i had a mechanic check out the sender and he rekkons is was fine, he also checked to oil pump it self and looks to be ok aswell. He said that the only thing it could be after that is the low end bearings are worn and when the oil heats up and thins out it slips through the outside and doesnt lubricate it properly and u get low oil pressure.

it drivable untill u get to a red light u need to hold to revs up. so it looks like a re build, about $3000-3500 and i just dont hav the money other wise i would do it my self.

He can't tell if the sender is faulty, only way to tell is to put an oil pressure tester on it.
Usually if an engine drops that low she will start to rattle either at top or bottom, get an external oil pressure guage or tester and check it.

Wouldnt trust the mechanics most are dodgy. Drain oil change filter Fill 5.5 - 6L oil good quality oil and drive it. I would agree with walker sender prob to blame. I have a lane and in hot weather i get the light occasionally when ac is on and im idling for a while and that happend three years ago and im still to have any sort of mechanical problem requiring a rebuild. Dont sell it until you at least change the oil and sensor and drive it a bit. At 245000km unless thrashed hard all its life. Bearings should be good for double that.

Yeah i get the same prob in summer, especially with air on, but she's still going strong, not rattling or using oil with 260 something on the clock.
