That's a problem with all cars these days Daniel, but in particular Ford and Holden.
Honestly, anyone who buys a brand new car these days is f**k insane, unless you're using it as a tax dodge or you're loaded and don't give a s**t.
A 2 year old Falcon drops around $12 to $15k from new, not to mention that most will still owe more than that on the loan, so even if they sold it they'd still have money owing.

Haha, never would have guessed lol, I'm not that daft.

I hate the idea of new car depreciation, but I would like to own at least NEW car.

I cant find what i want 2nd hand and i want the longest ford warranty so i dont oay for bs problems that shouldnt arise.

Daniel
most dealers will give you the oppurtunity to extend it at a cost as it comes out of warranty

That is true.

Been test driving this morning.

Either way Im up for huge loan and then I will have to pump that loan hard to get rid of it or make it an acceptable debt like i did for the fbt lol.

Well 1st visit resulted in no discount no nothing.

Today I got 2k discount and mats/rev sensors thrown in, dont want wheel.

My concern is the colour I want, I can only find one, cant get a couple of dealers into a pricing war lol, damn!

lol, you've just got to be confident that you'll be able to find what they want. get yourself a figure and offer it to them. if they say no, leave your number and tell them to get back to you when they come to their senses.
a mate of mine got a 32k ss to 27 cos he just refused to pay for it.

that was my idea too, but they are refusing to go below their cost on the car.

that being said i dont know the exact pricing, but from what ive seen on forums and heard from others, with the options i sounds like about 1k over cost.
Then with their offer to throw a few $$$ worth of stuff in it 'seems' fair, but the end dollar still speaks too loudly for my ears.

Got a call next day hungry for business
they will have you believe they are going below cost and your gettinga good deal. Just be Firm with what you want and what you will pay. If they say no walk off and let them call you back the next days after!

that's right. big cars are hard to sell now, they won't let a sale walk.
you've just got to play their game.

kev, thanks for the kind words - she is great and as i said before, if i had money id love to keep it as a 2nd car but at my age, situation it just isnt going to be smart.

dronel - 3rd car wil be around in a few months, wait till i see what i want hit the 2nd hand market i think, new is jus too painful for my pocket and this way i have timr to save more, win win situation!

A fairly quick and easy way to get some prices from dealers, is to email, or fax the details and options of the car you want to as many dealers around Melb. as you can, and see what price they will do. It means they have no negotiation and hopefully one of them will try and undercut another dealer...
