we have a few genuine FORD 75mm MAF housings they will fit straight onto all EB to AU 5ltrs

This is just the housing , you can screw your sensor into the housing, and fits all the original piping

they are $175 including postage to forum members
they cannot be purchased through ford without buying the entire unit from a T3 TE50 complete they are around $1000

The MAF on my XR8 has a grill at the front of it. Is it definately the same as an EL XR8? The grille on mine doesnt seem to be removeable.

It's the housing from a T3 according to Darrens post Timmeh.
Sprint and GT mafs don't have mesh either, the mesh impedes flow a fair bit supposedly.

I thought the mesh was the wire that was heated and the airflow cools it giving the signal to the ECU?
So its probably not compatible with my MAF electronics.

Nah, the sensor isn't part of the housing itself, its removable. It's a single heated wire AFAIK.
The mesh across the front is part of the housing, and is just another filter really.

Oh I didnt realise. It didnt occur to me that the mesh was another filter because its not that small. Rather silly having there I guess.

If thats the case I am interested in one of these if you have any left.

There is no electronics inside them so they are calibrated to whatever you put in it. But as Clampy said it might not work because more air is getting into the engine than the ECU knows about. Could mean a lean situation. If you use the stuff from an EL or EF V8 that has a 55mm housing it could run dangerously lean on a 75mm housing.

But you could get one and find out for us all.
