I am putting an expression of interest on my XE running gear, It has just been rebuilt and has done roughly 50 kms on the engine. Engine is basically brand new and has massive amounts of torque, In my XE with 2.77 disc brake LSD diff and 6 people in the car it turned the wheels effortlessly, also is a shift kitted C10 auto with a 3000rpm stall convertor, convertor has done as many k's as engine has. has a nice lumpy idle aswell.

The engine is as follows:

Imported Ford 400 cui V8 (bored 40 thou, giving roughly 410 cubes, which is roughly 6.7 litres)

* The engine has been bored 40 thou, freshly honed
* Brand new rings+ bearings
* New lifters
* Crank has been linished, the whole bottom end has been balanced
* Comp Cams 275deh camshaft
* FELPRO Full gasket kit, so every seal is brand new
* Rollmaster double row performance timing set
* Edelbrock performer manifold (very very hard to find for this engine)
* Gilmer Belt drive
* HEI 50,000 volt aftermarket distributor+coil
* 302 closed chamber heads with the chamber reliefed a little and a tidy up of the ports, heads have has new seals and have been reseated and lapped in.
* Extractors into a single 3 inch exhaust with a redback straight through muffler dumped at diff (sounds the goods with the cam!)
* Alloy Water pump
* Custom engine mounts to fit into any X series car, currently fitted to XE
* K and N 9 inch X 6 inch tall filter through bonnet
* Impco 425 straight gas carby (have to be discussed if engine sold)

Also with engine comes a set of 302 closed chamber heads that have had massive amounts of porting done to them, i took it to a local head rebuilder and he said they have had extensive work done to them, and the only thing that could be done would be to modify them for 4V valves. The reason why I have not had them finished is that there is a hair line crack between two of the chambers that need to be welded up, I have had this professional analysed and it can be fixed with no worries, only reason i didnt get them done is i couldnt afford to spend another $600 on the heads to get them rebuilt/ machined etc

The Auto:

I also have a genuine FOMOCO bellhousing to adapt my C10 to this engine, as the 400's have a c6 pattern. this item is genuine. to get an aftermarket version of this from other sources is worth over a grand itself (from rod shop/ whoever make bellhousings.)

* C10 Auto gearbox in excellent condition with as new 3000 rpm Stall converter (roughly 50 ks old) and it is mildy shift kitted, has a nice firm change through the gears.

Thats about as much as i can think of at the moment, the engine etc is still in the car, so if anyone is interested they can hear it running and do what ever tests they wish to it.

The reason for sale is due to financial reasons, and I will be sad to see it go, I had a lot of comments throughout the summernats in regards to sound of this engine and the amount of bottom end power this thing has, with a big 750dp on it, it will haul a*** when its run in. I also have not revved the engine over 4500rpm yet either as it still needs to be run in.

Here is a quick movie of it idling just after the cam was run in, excuse the messyness of the engine bay!

Pics will be up shortly

either try and sell the shell if i can, or just sell off the wheels and interior bits+ fairmont front,
or ill sell the lot for $4000 as is, the body still needs stuff done to it,
like have the paint cut back and buffed, and a few little interior bits finished like putting the electric motors back in the doors (had different doors fitted for the paintjob and havent been bothered to sort it out) and just a general tidy up, it made summernats how it is aswell, but I thought i would have more interest in selling it in pieces, also its on lpg aswell.

As far as im aware the heads should be fine for gas, the ported heads that come have all the goodies for gas etc, with a good holley should do 350-400 hp at the engine, the car wont come registered as i dont have the time to change filter/bonnet and exhaust.

basically im looking at all options here and im open to reasonable offers aswel, and can organise postage

its technically an american 400, same block as a 351M, it is basically a clevo with a 1 inch taller deck height, here is a link for some reference.
