Yeah, car carrier = company that carrys cars! :)

I just rang auto logistics, and door to depot (my place in Sutherland to the Melbourne depot in Rutherton) is $386. So even with shipping the car is still a bargain.

Anywhere else, feel free to get a quote:

http://www.auto-logistics.com.au/

If anyone gets a quote, you'll have to do it from 'door' on my end (Sutherland) as their depot in Sydney is at least an hours drive and an expensive taxi back to my place!

Yeah I would have to pick it up from melbourne, get a viccy unreg permit. Would you be willing to cash the plates in at your end? seeing if I buy it the car would be registered under victorian licence?

Your damn correct, even with the shipping that car is a f**k good bargain, maybe you would do it less if you cashed the plates in?

Maybe I wouldn't either. :)

If it had 12mths rego maybe, but its hardly worth it for a couple of months worth of rego - and then I need to stuff around with the RTA to do it?

Its a good cheap car already mate.

What do I do with the plates once they run out?

I see what you mean, if there is a couple of months worth of reg there that means I'll be able to drive it home on reg. No point in cashing them in.

I'm assuming its similar down there, but up here to change rego state, we get a Blue Slip, then present it to the RTA, hand in the interstate plates and get new NSW plates. Easy, no stress.

It's just that with the no V8 Law, I would have it as a 2 year project where I would have it in storage, Modify it to the way that I want it, and once I'm off the Green P-Plates, get it roadworthy'ed and registered in my name. So basically for 2 year's it's not on the road, as it's pointless having a car that I'm not allowed to drive. Doing what you sugested would be useless because again I wouldn't be able to drive it.

What I really meant was after the rego had expired, how do I dispose of the plates? do I hand them in to vic roads (RTA)? or just put them in scrape metal?

I was assuming you were changing it to VIC straight away. If you aren't, rather than change the rego over then, when it expires you hand in the plates to VICROADS and do nothing else. When the time comes to register it the process is the same as re-registering any unregistered car in VIC.

It would be a fantastic project. It definately has potential given its already pretty good.

Would an extra $100 help?

Now $1750.

This is a ludicrously cheap price, buy it before I shoot myself.....
