Always wondered, can you offset the decreased alternator output when using underdrives by getting a replacement alternator with a larger supply current?

Do you require a different belt? Or is the stock one fine

Our TPS is the same. The one they have on their site is the same as ours. If someone wants 1 let me know. They are $29.95. Will only be able to get 1 as I will then go over $1000. It wouldn't be anymore for delivery.
Thanks

Apparently you still use the same belt. Pretty sure these are the same as BPT.

On my set of underdrives, it utilises the stock belt.

Basically the crank pulley is smaller, the waterpump drive is bigger so that the belt speed is reduced a bit and the bigger water pump pulley reduces the water pump speed again (i think its around half the speed all up).

Should be pretty close to the same length, the tensioner will take a bit of it out too.

No change in temp for me. Volts run low, battery goes flat occasionally but nothing a charge every now and then wont fix. If you have a crap battery your best off getting a new one.

Thing is, if you dont like them they arent hard to rip off and re-sell.
(When fitting i just ripped out my alternator and took it to local mechanic to get the pully fitted, the other pully's took bugger all time to fit)

I have had mine for a few years now and have no plans of getting rid of them.

Yep i've also been running 3pc U/drives for the last 2 years (10,000km) and have not had any issues.
Just make sure your cooling system is up to scratch aswell as your alternator and battery as Stevo said. If these are all fine you will have no dramas.

Jeff

on these 3 piece underdrives is it essential to run all three, im only running crank and water pump ones as cant get alternator one off, im using a 110amp EF one though?

Didnt make a difference temperature wise, alternator shat itself a while ago but it was almost dead anyway, battery isnt bad at all as I have a Optima Drycell. Im not running them now because i cant bolt the blower pulley on the crank pulley.

I wouldnt say it makes a massive difference, but the gain is there and can be felt slightly, was about 2 tenths faster if that anything to go by on a stocker.
