Hey guys,

My car is still at the workshop getting the ECU done and in the meantime Ive been dreaming about a high stalled 3 speed.

Is anyone interested in a Tremec TR 3550 conversion?

It will include:

A Tremec TR-3550 gearbox, this is the box prior to the TKO boxes. The cases are interchangeable. 5th gear whines quietly.
The bellhousing to suit.
A tailshaft to suit an EA diff. Im not sure if a stock tailshaft will fit for later model diffs. I dont have one to compare. They look similar.
The hydraulic clutch setup incl. master cylinder, slave cylinder, hoses.
Pedal box to suit.
The clutch and flywheel that is in it. It was holding fine with 200rwkw before I took the car off the road. It should still be fine.

Im after about $2K ono. It will available in a few weeks once I get the car back.

Cheers,
Dan

very very interested in this, dollars would be a while away, and be more inclined to offer about 1500

but its cheaper than the 6speed and better than a strong t5. is the shifter point or any of the mounting points different. also is there any noise in the box no whining or f**k synchros?? also what clutch kit would this thing use is it a standard pressure plate and clutch?

I dont know about the clutch. Its a single plate, it didnt have any markings on it when I pulled it out.

5th gear whines a bit but not loudly. I thought I wrote that in.

The car is still in the workshop atm and likely wont be out for a few weeks, then I have to pull it all out so there is a bit of time for you to get the cash together.

The shifter is in the stock position as far as I can tell. The stick has an adapter spacing it back an inch or 2 but its a really short throw compared to the regular T5's.

Ill supply the crossmember as well. That bolts into the standard position also.

Postage might be a bit expensive to QLD.

yeah postage is no worries to me i have friends in the transport industry, just that i dont really earn enough to build up that sort of cash in a few weeks, especially considering i just paid for my rego and a $280 phone bill (oopsy changed up to a higher cap last week wont happen again) but yeah as i said definitely interested. do you have any information on the gearbox itself anything that i can read up on about strength, torque capacity etc.?

There is a tag on it that says TR-3550.

I think its from a Mustang.

These were what were used before the TKO came about. The TKO boxes are a direct replacement. The TKO 500 is a direct swap but the 600 has a different input and output shaft AFAIK.

Ben from Mal Wood said on AFF that it should be good for 550hp. I made a thread about identifying the box. Try doing a search for it. I cant get on there while Im work but Ill find a link later tonight.
