Yep, they pick up IR well. If you point a TV remote at it it lights up like a torch. You can get a more expensive IR model that has 6 3mm IR LEDS in place of the black dummies in this model, but even then it's only good for close range. You can get or make proper IR illuminators, we use them at work. They use them in big brother - people are in total darkness but they look like they've got a torch in their face. Phong there's no pieces as such, just the original image I posted - camera with 3 leads hanging out the back: audio, video and power.

i got my 2 today. hooked it up in my room to my screen but my screen wont fit in the car till i modify it all (323 not fairlane) so unfortunately i cant install it yet. works great tho
