Are you laughing at me, mate? :D

Does this shifter DEFINITELY have the STRAIGHT-GATE 2ND-3RD feature like the GMM Ripshifter?

If so, then I'm a definite too.

Shifter + Triax handle please!

Markr154:
I'm not sure what you mean by straight gate.. this is still H pattern as with the B&M shifter. Im unsure how the GMM ripshifter works. However this is a substantial upgrade to the stock shifter, and at half the price of many others.

In regards to part numbers, it is the sport shifter part no. 418-7475, NOT the tri-ax 555-7353

I have contacted Steeda a number of times relating to the differenece between the sport shifter (ordering here) and the Tri-Ax shifter, and these are a summary of the responses.

11th May - Inquiring about Tri-Ax without handle
Lee, it would have to be a substancial quantity (10 or more) for me to get my manufacturing facility to make some without handles. Price would be about 145.00 per shifter.

The sport shifters already come without handles and would probably be the better option for you at only 99.95 each.

15th May - Inquiring about shift mechanism
Yes, it does have the same internal mechanism to help with the 2-3 shift. The hole center to center spacing is .874. (<-- for handle fitment)

17th May - Inquiring about shift throw length
Hi Lee, the Sport shifter has the same throw length as a Tri-Ax in the lower position, which is the shortest throw

So essentially the sport shifter is a tri-ax without the 2 position handle height. I think they don't advertise this as they want to make more money on the tri-ax shifter than they would on the sport shifter.

As for orders of more than 10 unfortunately the most discount they give us is the same at 10,20 etc.

Too much travel, possible damage to the syncro's.

Hey guys (and Hotwire),

Here's a link to info on the GMM Ripshifter that I've practically ordered:

http://s63.photobucket.com/albums/h122/ ... h=imgAnch1

Use password of 'poopy67' if required.

As you can see, it has the spring-assisted straight-gate feature for 2nd-3rd shifting ...so that 3rd is NEVER missed, as well as the shortened throw.

There are 2 versions (Race & Street), the street version allows you to use your own gearshift stick with rubber mounting to cut down on shifter vibration & noise.

I think it also relocates your shiftstick closer to the steering wheel, due to the RH biased mounting.

Hotwire, I think it's worth you using this information to query Steedy in the US as to whether their shifter offers EXACTLY the same features.

I'm still sort of leaning towards the GMM shifter, but I think it would be good for me & the guys to know EXACTLY what we're getting with the Steedy Sport Shifter.

Nonetheless, at $200 each as opposed to $500 for the GMM ...it's still a wicked deal!

Look forward to your findings ...cheers mate.

markr154 Ahhh I realise what you mean now. Yes the pre-load mechanism is exactly that. Previously I would miss the 2-3 shift on just about every fast change, however since installing the steeda shifter I have not missed the 2-3 shift once! So yes, it is the same style of mechanism, at half the cost!!

With regards to thes strip/street setups, it is essentially the same whether you choose the tri-ax handle. Using your factory shift handle, uses the rubber mounts, or the tri-ax bolts direct to the shifter, giving a much firmer feel. The downside is, yes, there is more noise in the cabin, but meh. I can live with that for the feel I get :D
