I would say about 5000-6000 depending on interior/exterior condition. If its a bit rough you would be lucky to get $5000.

Cool, just debating whether or not to keep comprehensive insurance on it or just go third party

Yeah hardly worth full comp on our cars these days.

You could easily get 6-7k for it if the right buyer came around... LPG + manual is a good combo.

7k? No way man

Unfortunately car prices very flat at the moment. We cant sell our Black XR8 manual 2002 ute for 18k these days. 6 months ago you couldnt find one exactly the same less than 25k

As YTMONT said, comprehensive insurance isnt really worth it on our cars unfortunately. I valued mine (from redbook) just last night. Says 2k to 4.6k. I was devastated, but unfortunately thats just the way it goes

im considering just 3rd party property + fire and theft

JCI quote me at 450 for that, and 1k for comprensive at a value of $5500 for my ef2 mont.

now considering fire + theft they will pay me 5k, its an extra 500 bucks for the extra 500 they will give me.

now if i crash into no one and write off my car, by the time i pay 1200 excess, ill get 4k back. depending how badly you stack the car, could probably salvage 2-3k on parts.

so therefore only ending up about 1k out of pocket (assuming you can do some salvage) and saving 500 bucks. so really, the difference in the insurance premium is what you might save going full comp.

but full comp saves u all that time, hassel and stress against buying back, advertising and selling time. money upfront is the better option sometimes.
sorry to steal the thread...

im not full comp on mine anymore, the way i look at it is:

they insure the car for $4,000 (just car insurance)

it costs me $1100 to insure it full comp
if i smash it, it costs me $800 to claim

so basically, i'd be spending $1900, to get $2000 back. Better off in my pocket!

What you get depends on where you sell... I sold my EF Gli here in Central QLD for $4500. It had a set of 15" NA Fairlane wheels on it - standard stereo system, standard springs, hood lining fallen down, and here it comes !!!! 297 000 kms.... I sold it a week after advertising.... could NOT believe it...I did get a roadworthy however and replaced the rear main seal for $90. The body and interior were very tidy though...but yeah... sometimes you get lucky I guess !!
