Hey all looking for opinions on weather its worth getting vernier gear for my EB. It flatens out alot from about 4900,5000 rpm to the rev limit (5300). It does say the cam works best at only 1200 to 4500.
cam specs are....

Valve Timing- IN. 20/62 EX.64/14 Duration- 262, 258
.075" Duration- 198 198 LC- 113 Valve Lift .494" .472"
Power range 1200- 4500

Head has stock springs and had a slight porting.... The fella said he just opeaned it up around the valve guides, flows like 360hp but to long ago to recall at how much lift....
Running 10 psi atm, might nudge it up to 12 but keen to see what i get out of the cam timing first should i do it. Cheers all can post up the dyno sheet if anyone would like to see for themselves.

i would be looking over other possibilities first mate, vernier gear is really just to advance or retard the timing, with a flat spot i would be looking more towards fuel and spark and even blocked cat or muffler

No problems with anything at all, the car runs fine. Im realy just asking if im going to gain anything up top by fitting the cam gear and moving cam's range up.

probably your cam is too small.
Is it dropping boost in the higher rpm?

Holds around 9.5psi till around 5k and creeps back to around 9psi by 5300....

Ordered vernier cam gear and going in for a tutch up on the tune soon so ill ask them to play with the cam timing then.
Hopefully they can get a bit more top end out of it. I diddnt wan't to go too big a cam with standard springs.... but if it's holding me back ill just fit a new cam and springs also......
cheers for the input.

You'll probably find it's the valve springs that are the problem.

My dyno on a dead stock engine, standard cams and springs made 330rwhp around 4600rpm and dropped off to around 320rwhp at 5600rpm and it basically kept the exact boost the hole way which was 9.8psi.

I did consider this...... it makes power very well untill 5k then basicly stops dead. :?
It only makes like 1 kw more power after that....
perhaps some valve springs will go in also before it goes back......

cheers again gys.. ill let you know how i go.

Have you checked fuel pressure at this point ??
A dip will show the pump isn't keeping up with demand..
Even if it comes back at higher rpm..
That's not to say valve springs, or more the point the boost is
holding valves open..

Bosch 044, with stock pump lifting to 1L surge. 46lb injectors, Std. fuel pressure reg, rail and fuel lines...
I wasn't told that there were any issues with the fuel side of things during tuning, but i can ask when it goes back in.... I figured my injecters would max out with std reg pressure before the pump would... :|

Thinking ill change springs when i do the cam gear now to eliminate the chance of valves being held open. 8-)
