Power: 235 rwkw

hi guys, i recently bought a BA XR6 turbo. its stock at the moment and is just about to get an exhaust fitted with a new dump pipe which apparently will help with lag so he tells me. but my question is i have been told after my exhaust and bigger cooler with a flash tune i can be pushing 300+rwkw. is he about on the money with this and if it is true am i going to need to spend the money on internal upgrades too ?
any info would be great. or people that have had this done already

4'' dump, 5''cat & 3.5'' mandrell bent with a 3.5'' outlet for your exhaust a good intercooler with both hot & colds side pipes replaced upgrade your intank pump ie: walbro 255lph with min 60lbs injectors that will get to a safe 270-280rwkw then the next mods will be your valve springs with that combo you can sneek it up to 330-350rwkw then turbo mods will be next on your list, flapper valve & 12psi actator spring to keep your boost controlable

then definatly do the springs as 130k is a bit hi with that sort of power that your chasing as for the auto that can be modified through the SCT program but your tuner should know that..

oh so with that many kms on it should i not go to that extent with the power? yea i was told with the x3 flash tune that they can pretty much adjust everything. maybe i will just do the exhaust and cooler and get the tune and see how i go with that for now.

the problem is the more power you chase & the more boost you add your springs will have a hard time to keep the valve shut

+1 for valve springs.

Just got atomic ones fitted to a stock 03 auto, makes 197.5 with ASE Stage 1 Intecooler. I also just fitted pump. She goes in for injectors and tune soon. 270rwKw is the goal, sound achievable? Got 145k's, always serviced, drives like new.. auto about to be serviced before tune. I also got a braided oil feed fitted, and I strongly recommend you remove the stock oil feed filter behind the the oil sender; some workshops I've spoken to are not aware because they're mostly working on low Km cars or something.

Gday mate, I have been modifying XR6 turbos for 7 years now from the day they came out. I have tried countless conbinations. It doesnt cost much to make power in an XR6T>

For 300RWKW you will need the following (this combo will make up to 350RWKS)

Valve Springs (Crow prefer)
Second CAI pipe
Deka 60LB Injectors
Walbro GSS340
Cheap Monza Cooler from ebay
K&N filter
Under battery pipe
High flow cat

Dont worry about hotside and cold side pipes just yet. Infact with the standard cross over pipe and the standard exhaust and the mods above I have 4 cars making over 350RWKW. Boost gets a little hard to control up top when tuning in open loop but if your tuner does it right in closed loop you should be able to hold 15 punds of boost so it would be a good idea to get that done too. The earlier you get that done the better boost control will be especially through gear changes when boost spikes.

Its all in the tunning!

Good luck with it.

hey guys. i just bought an intercooler off ebay that said its gonna fit straight into the old brackets from the factory intercooler. they lied lol....... but yes it does fit. i had to make some brackets for the top coz the ones they supplied didnt fit. but anyway its in and looks good. so the next step im at is the tune up i guess. im guessing the valve springs are the next thing before i go for a tune up by the sounds of the last post. anyone have a ruff ballpark figure of what thats gonna cost me?

i think 300rwkw is gonna be enough for me for a while. be good to laugh at a few v8's on the road at the moment :)
