Right, I've just done a little net research on all this....I'm not familiar with a lot of these terms.

So to tune the motec, I'd need to have the wideband lambda enabled (by the motec tuner I'd assume?), and an 02 sensor welded into the exhaust. Once this is enabled, I'm assuming I'd need a guage/lcd screen to watch AFR readouts? This would allow me to monitor afrs.....but then I'd need the software in a connected laptop to adjust tuning paramaters? I don't have any software as I bought the car with motec ecu fitted already....

Does this above sound right, to set up so that I can tune myself?

I'm not a Motec expert, but I'd imagine that the Motec software would enable you to live-log to a laptop, and have a digital "dashboard" that would allow you to watch AFR's on the laptop screen. A dedicated gauge would be optional. Did you buy the car privately or through a dealer? The software should have been included if it was bundled with the ECU originally.

The O2 sensor screws into a bung which is welded into the exhaust... basically just a nut welded over a hole drilled in the exhaust. Be careful to ensure the O2 sensor's thread is coated with anti-seize lube appropriate to the exhaust temperature though. I bought a stock replacement O2 sensor a few months ago, it had a plastic protector over the thread which was pre-coated in lube. Don't FFS wipe this off...

Thanks Sly. I bought the car privately, though I don't think the previous owner had the software. He bought from, had fitted by, and setup/tuned by the one motec distributor. He was an older guy....I don't think it interested him to hold on to the software, so I think it remained with the motec tuners. I'll call him and check this out.
