There are no head studs specifically available for the Ford I6 so I've been faxing a number of bolt manufacturers to see if there is anything close that could be used.
I have found a stud that is 1cm too long and can easily fit with a spacer or extra washers. It has all the right threads for a direct screw in. Have also found a 1/2" stud which could fit with retapping of the block to a bigger bolt size which is very easy to do. I think the first option looks the best as there are no fitting issues with the extra height. Either way I think I have something. Samples are being sent over. I am a big fan of head studs for a heavily boosted turbo applications which this will be. If anyone is interested in a set I can bring in some extras in if the samples work out. Just PM me. I looked into custom manufacturing them but we are looking at big dollars so this is the next best thing which I think will be just as good.

just a thought, but will it actually be possible to get the head off incar with studs?

i have considered that possibility before also, and thought it probably wouldnt allow it

The advantage of head studs is better clamping. Not so important in N/A applications but in highly boosted turbo they do help.
You can take the head off. You just lock two nuts on the stud and unscrew. In this case there will be extra thread to be able to do this. The engine I am building ATM will be capable of 600-700rwhp so head studs are a must IMO.

Once I get the samples in I can be sure if its gonna work out. I will only be doing one order and if anyone wants a set then they will have to fit it in together with my personal order. Price wise will see when the samples come in. I expect the samples in a couple of weeks and expect to put an order in the following wk. Hopefully it will all work out as this has been the main reason for holding my turbo motor up.

I have tested a 1/2"-20 threaded stud in a scrap block by redrilling the block , rethreading then torquing the bolt up to 120ftlb and works fine. However I couldn't get a 1/2"-20 for the block end, only 1/2"-13 so have to test it when I get the bolt. Remember the original thread is 12mm so there is not alot of thread to play with. I have read that Nizpro do the 1/2" stud conversion (Dont know if its -20 or -13) for their high powered BA turbo mtrs so it certainly can be done.

I dont think Snort has got Head Studs otherwise it would have already been discussed on the Forum.
