I just bought an 06 Typhoon how much can I screw the turbo up with out having to do engine mods and how do I screw it up?.

What else can I do bigger intercooler or exhaust? I plan to race it at willowbank street series and want to eat the 6 litre holden V8's.

I am basically starting fresh with no idea really what to do any tips would be greatly appreciated.

elite automotive also do wonders with the phoons.
id go a set of valve springs, fuel pump, 60lb injectors. 3 1/2 inch exhaust, flash tune, get them to screw the boost up to 15lb . and if a 6lt holden gets within 5 car lengths of you., you need to learn how to drive... have fun with the wheelspin

ok cool thanks for your suggestions.
I know absolutely bugger all about this.

It is a 6 speed auto ex cop car GC highway patrol Heat6.

Rice it up? I just want to give it a little more boost before I do any mods. It would handle another 2-3 psi on factory specs wouldnt it? I dont want to go crazy and blow it up just a little more.

I have been told there is a screw that you can turn to do it manually, if so I plan to do a 1/4 turn and see how it goes. Then after the races turn it back..I need to get a proper boost gauge with numbers though and I need it sorted before wednesday night.

What I need to know is where is this screw if there is one and how much should I turn it ?

Test and tune at Willowbank and if I dont beat my brothers 350 chev that he has tickled I will most likely cry and come home and kick my dog in the guts jk

Get a flash tuner if you just want to up the boost slightly. Get it custom tuned by someone reputable.
They aren't like oldschool late 80s/early 90s jap cars where you can just whack a bleed valve in the wastegate line.
If the ECU sees more boost then its expecting, it will do everything it can to reduce it.
Fuel, ignition timing and cam timing.
It feels like hitting a fuel cut rev limiter.

Biggest restrictions are the stock injectors, stock cooler and the stock cat.
Do those, get it retuned, and 12s won't be an issue.

You can just get it custom tuned, around the 10psi mark to start with. Someone said Elite which is up ur way!

If u want to get it really going -

I reakon ur best bet is to get a decent cooler for it -any of the following - rapidsystems, process west do quality coolers for a good price! $900-$1600

depending on what kit u want, to the higher $$ will include a 3'' CAI from the turbo, will eliminate ur stock piping.. the spool noise is insane!

You wont need valve springs because its an 06 Typhoon... Later models didnt need them, only BA's

Bigger injectors, say Siemens 60lbs - around the $350 mark.
Fuel pump - get a anti-surge kit - again rapidsystems/process west have them - $600??

Exhaust - u could go all out and but a 4'' dump/cat system $2000
Or just replace the cat for say a 3.5''+ and remove the middle muffler - $500?

And if ur wanting to hold the boost - get ur wastegate ported, 12psi actuator, so ur boost doesnt drop.

All that will get u way over the 300rwkw mark, chew LS2's and be a low/mid 11sec 1/4.

13.154 @ 107.78 mph - 173.46 kph

I beat my brothers SS Chev :) he got 13.588 he actually done me off the line then the boost kicked in.

I havnt done anything to it yet. Have been told about cappa ? performance do it yourself kits for 400 KW about $8,000

Yeah well it broke down on me on the way home saturday and Ford told me they put the latest parameters in the com which means to me they loaded the F6 310 specs into it?

Anyway with .2 off my reaction time it is a 12 second car stock...

It has a dirty old filter in it and needs a service as of 200 k's ago.

Has anyone heard of Royal Purple oil ? my brother tells me that it gives you 5 kw just running this oil ??

I added my time and timeslip into the registry thing but the timeslip dosnt seem to be showing.

Thats about right, they seem to pull about 106-108mph stock.
I doubt they would have put an FG tune in.

Reaction time doesn't add anything to your ET, you can sit there for 10 seconds if you like.

What was your 60' on that run?

Royal Purple is seriously expensive oil. I wouldn't touch their gear oil by the way.

Process West is located in Albion Park Rail. I wouldn't mind one of their plenum chambers.

How much boost do you want to dial up anyway. Bear in mind that the boost is not constant with these motors. They bled it off as the revs went up to keep the torque curve as flat as a table.

As has been said before get a custom tune. Its not cheap but its worth every single cent in the end.
This aint no VL where a $2 ball valve from bunnings will see it hit 17PSI.

Yeah there was a guy with a xr6 turbo running 11 secs with Process west but I think he spent too much money with all the peeps I have talked to including the invaluable info I have gained here it can be done a lot cheaper.

I am going to have the fastest car in Aus without a rollcage.

What is it 140 mph and you need a cage ? If so I am going to do 139 mph
Stay tuned.

My 60 ft was 2.166 my brothers with the SS 350 chev was 2.106 I was chasing him but when the turbo kicked in it was all over. What would be ideal is for the turbo to kick in earlier. I raced a 351 and loaded all the way up but lost traction off the line 3 gears burnout. I think I should beaten him but no traction = s**t
