Is it possible take a B series turbo with mods (zorst, cooler, intake, maybe swap out the turbo) and i use this as an example, and for a for a reasonable price (eg $2000) and with the ecu set ups, lower the boost to say 5 psi and then up the boost to say 20 at the flick of a switch?

i hear a lot of people ask about a 200rwkw car with normal economy and good drivablity. we all know it doesnt happen.

but is it possible to keep a REASONABLE fuel economy and tame machine (as 9/10 times the idea is you'd be driving around town with no need for gratuitous amounts of power) and then push the "giddy up" button (or a ecu that has a varible setting) to have fun on a track

I think someone recently invented something called a boost controller that does what you are talking about.

5psi- 20psi. f**k me..
a bloke is runnun around with an electronic boost controller switch mounted ontop of his gearstick and first gear say goes to 8 psi hit the button second gear takes you to 12 psi hit it again and 3-4-5 gear will go 16psi. 3 stages.. it is so he doesnt fry off at the line or through second but your hiting full boost in the top gears

i got a 3psi and 10psi switch on my 240rwkw eb :) sadly 3psi doesnt get used :P

yes, but having a setup that is fully tuned and that the ecu doesnt freak about

pretty sure the turbosmart e-boost does what you are wanting to do...

get it tuned to the higher boost amount then just run around on low boost. will still be tuned the same but wont punch a hole in your pocket when your not punching a hole in the floor with your right foot
