jus woundering if anyone could help me with a question with the turbo while idleing?..

What ive done is installed a second hand snort performance kit and jus woundering why my turbo isn spinning while idleing?. Is it ment too??.. I havent got the turbo pressure side hooked up yet either but have got the exhaust hooked up. I can spin the turbo blades by hand, an ive checked the shaft, its not broken in two, or have an shaft play, it doesnt hit the exhaust or compressor housing while turning it by hand. The turbo does spin a little when i rev it an it also has oil pressor through the oil lines cos i ran it for a few seconds with the turbo drain off an it had oil coming through..
The only thing i can think of is maybe a exhaust manifold leak or where the turbo bolts to the manifold?..
i'll check these gaskets an if there ok, then i'm not really sure where to go from there?.

I wouldn't be too concerned, being a journal bearing that can be the case.
mine doesn't either, but it works perfectly fine.

I had this issue with a hi-flowed t3.
It's nothing to worry about. Basically as explained to me by a turbo builder, its the way it's built. Some are built "tighter" than others and it isn't am issue. As soon as the exhaust pressure builds it'll spin.
See if it'll spin when you rev the motor. If it doesn't then you have a problem.

:D Thanks guys..

Yea i acually checked the gasket between the turbo an the manifold an it was leaking. Replaced the gasket plus added sum maniseal on the gasket an started it up an the turbo jus wound ova while idleing. But also found another exhaust leak where i custermized the external wastegate pipe off the manifold, so im gunna fix that an then probley get the two welded together so no leaks.
An yes its a bush or what ever they are when they arnt a ball bearing setup..

Its a to4e, the compressor side is .7 an im not sure what the exhaust side is? think its t3.

thanks heaps boys.. :D

Use hi temp silicon on exh joins before turbine..
With load and RPM it'll be right...
Double check wastegate is closed...

think all t04 series are a t4 rear, you will find it frees up a bit with time, also it depends a lot on your tune at idle, the more fuel and less timing you have in the more it will spin at idle, basicaly the better your tune the less it will spin, it will probley spin more with the cold side piping on too, as the motor will be sucking thu the compressor and making it spin, bottom line dont stress buddy :D
