Hey guys and gals.

I am just curious more than anything for future interests i was just wondering how much it would cost to turbo my manual ef I6 for low boost for some extra pressure.

I have seen IC's for $200 and a T04E for about $400 new. running low boost i wouldnt need any new injectors or ECU would i??

how much more apart from plumbing would i need to spend.. i already have got the full exhaust system done..

Thanx

you will need......

manifold

3 inch exhaust

turbo

wastegate

plumbing

3 inch dump pipe

oil lines ect

intercooler

your stock computer wont do the trick because they wernt ment to run booste. youl need either a chip or a whole new ECU (recomended because you can tune it yourself)

thats roughf, im sure iv missed things

if your only looking for a medium increase in power have you looked at superchargers? you can get everything you need for around 5500

This same question is asked about once a week with always the same responses, you cant really turbo a falcon cheap. Chefs DIY thread was put up in an attempt to make ppl realise axactly whats involved in turboing a falcon so have a read through that.

Sound comments from bogan. Please use the search function - even better, check out the sticky thread in the forced induction workshop. These are stickied to provide users an easy way to find answers to very common questions.

For everything in chef's thread that you cant do yourself - add about $60 per hour of labour you require someone for.

These guys arent joking when they say it aint cheap.

i dont understand how people say puting a turbo on a e series will be over $7000 all the time yeah maybe if u get the absolute best parts brand new and get all the fuel systems up graded
but im pretty sure to get a low boost turbo workin isnt that expensive.. manifold,wastegate,bov,3inch dump pipe ive seen under $500
then a turbo form a 32 skyline $150
im not sure how much cooler piping and cooler will cost but i no its not to cheap
and oil lines which u need to get made up
then later on if you want more boost and teh car to handle it fuel pump injectors regulator and ecu can come in
but im pretty sure getin 6 psi boot wouldnt cost more than 1200 secondhand

A r32 skyline turbo is way too small for a 4ltr 6. it had probs supplying a 4 cyl...

Remember good not cheap, cheap not good.

A good aftermarket ECU and tune would be near on 2k, the tune is the most important part, if it isnt tuned she'll more than likely blow on a lean out.

The better the turbo, manifold and all the paraphenalia that goes with it gives enough room if you want to chase bigger figures later down the track. Also allow for when things go wrong down the track, a $150 turbo wont last long...

yeah i no its exactly true what your saying im just saying if you search for bargians you can find cheap stuff obviusly sometimes not the best but its still possible to turbo you car on a budget
and an other thing is a costomised ea manifold fine for a decent turbo set up?
