I posted a white Fairlane when these forums first started.. The turbo was under the boot...
But you can mount them under heat shield if you want stealth set up...

how laggy would a set-up like that be. I reckon that could be a handful to drive if you were going hard.

I remember in street machine there was a mustang with two turbos in the boot. aparently there isn't as much lag as everyone thinks. Off the top of my head it didn't mention any other downsides, only the upsides of not having two heaters under the bonnet and you have to love the sleeper aspect

The concensus was last time around that the length of pipe is not that much different to an intercooler install and there was cooling gained by the pipe running under the car in the air flow.

HE is a SHE

but unfortunatly my baby is a 4L 6 Banger and the little power it has is somewhat not that great once you get used to it...

that and when i was looking i couldnt seem to find a fairmont in a V8 and she cost me next to nothing :)

and yes i was thinking of it because of the whole sleeper look that and im sure i've read an article in a magazine a while back and someone had done it and achieved over 300rwhp

Well unless someone does rear mount kits already, you'd be up for all custom work.

Best stick with the tried and true high mount options from Snort, or the few others that make their own manifolds.

BTW: I have one (unused Snort kit) for sale if you're interested, no good to me anymore as I don't have a 6 anymore. PM me.

A low mount or under / level with sump requres one of these http://www.racerindustries.com/store/in ... cts_id=495
Tilton trans cooler pumps to return oil back to engine.. The good part is the sump doesn't need to be drilled for oil return.. Some times a small sump is requied, just under turbo .. These are self priming...

Why not just recirculate it through a small oil cooler saves two oil lines from one end of the car to the other?

There are some tricks to getting it right apparently. That STS mob in the post before yours specialise in doing these.

I suppose it all comes down to correct selection of turbo and housing sizes for the result you want, just like any other turbo install.

You'll notice (especially in the STS setups) the turbos are a lot smaller than you'd normally use - faster spool, but less/limited top end.

Yes that's the way its done with small sump under turbo..
The Aussie versions I see have the turbo's just behind bellhousing or about where cats would be...The Tiltron electric pump is above gear box crossmember and returns oil to valve overs..
In this format they can run intercoolers like normal.. The pipes fit under or beside chassis rail... The turbo's generally used are internal gated 2 GT3040's or 2 X's 350 to 400 h.p T3 ball bearing/ water cooled with 0.63 A.R turbine.. The pipework in this method is hardly longer than turbo's in normal position...

I love the stealth idea... you could have a ruddy big turbo and if you did it right, the cops could look under the bonnet and not notice a thing..


lol, maybe i can mount my M90 beside the drive shaft and run the pulley off that... :-)

thats why i was thinking of doing a rear mount turbo because police wouldnt suspect a thing nor would they know what there looking for. :)
