Hey all
Ive just found Snort kits!
OMG, they look tasty, but are they as good as they seem?
Good quality gear?
Any good results as yet?

Ive come close to going down the turbo rpoute so many times but just pulling out as i get some doubt in my mind on which way is the best way to do it.

And also for ppl who have/havent used the snort stuff, can you give me a run down on what yourve done, and what else you would have done differently.

ATM, i already have:
*Twin Throtts
*EMS 8860
*24lb ford motorsport injectors (i realise ill have to upgrade to bigger ones)
*9.7:1 comp and ported, (the entire head was cleaned up and tinkered with. I realise lower comp is better, but im only looking at about 10 psi...ish)
*STD bottom end
*STD fuel system
*Crane HI6-S and LX91 coil

Please help!

I've got one of Snorts original kits which I'm very happy with, Although the new stuff they are making now is at least 100% better that mine.. There is a few people out there that are critical of the kits, but if you talk to anyone who has actually seen/bought/used/been for a drive in a car with a snort kit you wont find anyone that is unhappy in anyway.

I think your compression is going to be to high, even to run 10psi, maybe 5-6..
Also whats the go with this twin throtts setup?? have you got any pics... sounds interesting...

BTW, I've got a stage one Snort Kit, small T04E, log style manifold, on a standard EF engine with a wolf 3d, and got 210rwkw on 10psi and that was through an Auto..
Anyway I can only recommend to go forced induction, now I've got my car done I dont know how I could go back to NA..

Good luck

Tim

Send of an email to Geoff, I havent personally used any of his stuff but have been in a few cars with his kits.

EASPRINT on here is running his stage 4 (or 5)? prototype. He makes 340rwkw on only 13 psi.

Im not a customer of his but have sent him a few emails asking questions and he is always happy to help.

my compression can be fixed fairly easily....comp plate ;)

But ive been reading some articles where dudes are finding more power/drivability with slightly higher comp with fairly low booost (10 psi)
All comes down to the tune i think

Yeah the snort kits are good... the turbo's and wastegates they use arnt my personal choice but all the stainless steel manifold/exhaust gear looks top notch, and oil lines are good quality

Nice manifold, be interesting to see how it works with some boost. You may want to look into enlarging the plenum(s) though, but it will still work.

your comp is too high, maybe put a standard head back on as the standard comp ratio is about the max, though really a tad too high still. 8.5 to 1 is a common ratio that most 6 cyls run with and should be ok with some mid level boost.

Go buy the gear and bolt it all on... you'll wish you did it years ago

Your plenum volume should be 2x your engine capacity :) Time for some renovations!
