I'm not sure who told you they were s**t or why. I've had a stage one and then a stage four kit on my car and neither wastegate has had any problems. I did about 10,000ks with the stage 1, and I've done around 15,000 ks now with the stage 4. If they were going to fail, I would imaging they would of done so by now..

I dont really know what brand Jase is talking about, I know they sell 3 or 4 different ones.
My original one was a 38mm tial, and my current one is a 60mm HKS..

mine looks china spec :( Which is what got me worried. Icould be wrong but, happens frequently :)

Ill give it a go and just keep a eye on it.

If it does go, that $700 in replacement costs (basic gate + adaptor) i wont be happy with, if i dont do the engine

They do say all there gear come with 12m woarrenty but.

When you bought the kit from Snort performance what brand and size did they say the wastegate was?

Didnt thats the thing, havent heard back form them yet.

It looks to be a ~38mm, and it on teh st 3 kit so would expect that itll be that or 40mm as advertised.
Ill attach a dodgy pic :)

Without disrespecting Snorts kits, the gates are/were fake TIAL and fake HKS gates. I know a few guys who have had issues with these gates, but its been the poor build quality that lets them down... some are good, some leak and creep.

I wish it had the oval/eliptical base atleast. Would save me cutting manifold or getting an adaptor. Cant seem to find any square base gates- though been told to try kkk

Off to the workshop today. See what they say.
Will prob whack it on and see what happens :/

I've had experience with snort and all of it has been reliable. As for fake tial's there is nothing wrong with them in general it's just the diaphrams that can give troubles, i know because i have tested them extensively and brought plenty in from china. All i used to do was change the diaphrams in them and they went for ever. If you actually purchased it from snort then you won't have any troubles with it. The very early snort kits used a few non branded style of wastegates but were fitted with proper diaphrams and do you really think they would still be in buisness after five years if they sold s**t that failled?

28000k's indicates to me that my snort gate must be *OK*

well im going to be using it, u'll hear from me if theres a problem :P

I just dont have great faith in china spec gates. But if theyve tested them and or changed the diaphrams then all will be good :)
