howdy,

Im just wondering on the basic principles of tuning in a boosted application. I can do N/A no worries, but then once it starts spooling and creating positive pressure, I can sort of understand what needs to be done (retard spark, make sure its not leaning).

But there's always more to it, So Im posting here.

Basically tuning basics on the transition between atmospheric pressure and boost, and while on boost.

Cheers

AFR around 11.5 especially around max torque level, no leaner than 11.8...
Spark depends alot on engine type and condition...start with 18* and work up.. With boost over 10Lb on EB 6 advance comes back real quick.. At 18Lb max advance is 9* ....My compression is very low, at 20Lb boost it has 22* though with new exhaust this will change as boost will raise alot quicker....
Over 440 rwkw at a lower boost level....Optimum tune with Motec crank angle senser etc happening soon....
But you realy need to take it to guys that work on ricers as most of them are turbo's...Adam at Justengine management or Matt at The Hittman Penrith...His workshop is beside "race fabrications" now, so there's nothing hat can't be done....

When tuning my Wolf I spent alot of time fine tuning 3000 to 4000 as this is where the turbo is just hitting max boost and the motors torque is also maxing... timing is critical here as you would expect

Yeah, it'll be on the dyno, coming onto boost, and max boost and so forth should be achieveable without recieving a ticket (Im sure you guys know what thats like lol).

Thanks CHEF, I expected timing to be critical everywhere but idle on forced cars, but moreso there yeah.

Cheers

Chef, With every tune ive had i get most pinging between 3-4000rpm. Is there any reason for this?

Anyone else notice this?

thats because that is the peak torque are, which means, that is the range where you have the highest cylinder pressures, if too much ign advance there you will get pinging, easier than you will anywhere else
