i know this is a very broad question but at the moment i only need a broad answer. what sort of dollars are involved in getting new seals put through a garrett turbo? just a ballpark figure

$600'ish for a full rebuild IIRC

Basic rebuild is $400 (which covers seals, bearings, balance etc) at most shops if you need a new wheel or shaft the price will go up from there.

$90 for the seal kit

pretty easy.. just need to grind down a pair of tweezers to fit into the 0.5mm holes in the circlips so you can put em back in.

You forgot one very important thing the turbo will need to be balanced after you pull it apart.

seal kit for a to4e i priced the other day from gcg is $115 thats trade price and a rebuild is between $600 and $1000

I got quoted 400 for a standard T3 rebuild from a VL but they had second thoughts when I brought it to them in a bag full of bits of metal and what was left of the comp cover. lol
