working on a 18psi tune hey fritzz, so i take it you have upgraded from the 55s?? im running 17-17.5 and my 72's are going to 94% duty while holding an afr of 11.7-12

i dont know what sort of power im making now...

and yes, au gaskets work good, i have 2 au gaskets, with a decompression plate in the middle, using genuine bolts, and even this setup hasnt given an ounce of grief yet....

you will need to tap the block to 1/2in unf and find an appropriate length arp stud if you want to use studs.

turbotrana has a good thread on his quest to finding head studs for a 4l

well on the current 12psi tune they go to 92%.

and on the 18psi tune at 12;1 afr they are going to 94%. but the car is alot quicker. so i think the rising rate reg is helping out. it works out to about 75psi in the rail lol.

soon im gonna just stick the stock reg bak on and get some 83lb's

lol i was waiting for that.

mines only there because

1: i didnt know it was 1.7:1 when i brought it

2: it was tuned on that originally and would require large changes to fuel map if removed.

3: my injectors are 2 small.

even though i don't like them. the sard reg i have has been exellet, and dont really have anything bad to say about it.

Find a better tuner, one who understands the purpose of a fuel reg, and why rising rate regs are bad... If my dyno operator told me that i should be using a rising rate, he wouldnt be my dyno operator for very long.

have a search around on these forums, a few of us have gone into great detail in the past about how and why with regards to rising regs...

side note: what rpm u revving to fritzz??

The only positive about your rising rate fuel reg without any engine management is that its rising the fuel pressure 1.7psi to every pound of boost so it shouldn't be leaning out, however, when you get the wolf v500 hooked up, then you'd be better off with a 1:1 fuel reg and do the fuel map in the tuning.

i got my car sent off for tune today ,would have liked it to be earlier but money held me back. should be back on friday with anywere between 7-10 psi boost would like more but have stock intenals. i also had a 3 inch exhaust fitted on it b4 it left and that made another massive differance. hopping for at least 200rwkw and a low 13 second pass. will be out at calder next time its on look for the silver ef fairmont with the 5 spoke 18s and the big whoosh noise.

my car has finaly been tuned and will be picking it up on friday from wolfems in bayswater. the dyno results where 285rwkw at the wheels on 10psi and 13 deg timing advance. i was surprised that my fuel system was up to the job (550cc injectors, rising rate reg and a walbro 265 liter per hour fuel pump. so all i need now it to build a bullet proof motor and run more boost and timing and should be up around the 350rwkw+ mark. just wish calder was open this weekend aparently there are still doing track work, it should be good for low 13s on street tyres.
will post up dyno print out on friday when i pick the car up.
