Hi All,
Is there any advantage in having a standard ford fuel pump as a 'lift pump' with an external Walbro, versus just throwing the standard and using a single Walbro in-tank? It's for a supercharged AU I6 with standard in-tank + a stupidly loud external pump. Cheers, Joe

i'm just running a walbro in-tank, does the job.

same here im just running the intank walbro, no surge tank or lift pump...

Righto so no advantage in having the two pumps.
Do you guys get any noise from the walbro in-tank? I'd assume a walbro intank would be quieter than an external pump in an insulated bracket....? Joe

imo the only advantage of having 2 pumps is if your running a surge tank..
my walbro intank pump is only a tad louder than the std one.. i cant hear it in the car with the engine running... |

yeah same, can only notice it when it primes, just a little bit louder.

You don't get double the flow fitting an in line pump..
Much better fitting a good in tank.. Then if your after real power 400rwkw and up a surge tank is best to keep fuel up to power level.. Larger fuel lines should be added also... Some cars that have surge tanks etc often are carbed originally.. The std tank doesn't have swirl-pot etc to accept in tank pump...

I'm wanting to avoid surge tank at this point to keep costs down, so if the walbro intanks are quiet they sound like the way to go, particularly if there's no real advantage to running the two pumps. I'll grab one from private9 of boostedfalcon.

I was wondering at what stage a surge is actually required. I'm only likely to get at most 250rwkw with pump + 42lb injectors (at 220rwkw now), so a surge tank won't be necessary.
