hi folks, i have a good cond EL XR8 ser1 with extractors, high flow cats, twin pipes and a K&N panel filter. i am looking at gaining a little more power without dissasembling the engine. i ahve heard people recommending 1.72 roller rockers with the std cam, my quetion is will they fit onto an otherwise std 5.0 and what sort of gains would i expect? also why these and not the 1.6s?

cheers

1.6s are standard ratio and the 1.72 give more lift. Your best bet is to go for the 1.72s if you are only interested in removing your upper intake and rocker covers.

yes they will bolt on but dont expect too much gain on their own, while you have the upper manifold off you might as well either upgrade or port the lower manifold for more gains

Fitting 1.72 RR's will gain you a few kw at the most and you would need to spend around $550 for the RR's.

i found my old car valve bounced at 5500rpm with the 1.72's in but it had a bigger cam in it but still gave it abit more response with them in.With the 1.6's would crackle off the limiter no worries....

Incorrect valve springs; weren't capable of the lift you had with the rockers and cam.

if you are going to get roller rockers anyway you may as well get the 1.7s.

Yep as in GT's and Sprint engine.. Some of the Tickford TE's also..
1:72 rockers on std cam is actually more agressive than Sprint cam..
