I also run AFD 2V heads and TFC manifold but a few more cubes than you.
Did you say you ran a 10.90? Is it caged or do you have work to do now. haha

we had the cage in already. 6 point bolt in one.

we are building a new motor atm, we will need a welded in cage.

the tunnel ram was bought for the new engine. we put it this one A. because it look hell cool and B. because every one told us it wouldn't work. sure the bolting a 4V manifold on 2V heads make for a huge port mismatch, but it went faster....

whats the specs on your engine?

as mentioned we were having a new built.

Basic run down is,

Dart windsor block, stroker crank, 428cui
AFD 4V clevo heads (hand ported)
custom ground cam to suit
weiand 4V tunnel ram
a pair of holley 950 ultra carbs
pacemaker headers
and direct port nitrous

First power pull on the dyno showed 650HP on the dot. a few tweaks and about 30mins later and that figure went up to 674hp on BP ultimate with no nitrous. we were pretty happy with that.

next was time for some good fuel. the fuel change and some jetting changes and we had 686hp.

so we figure lets pull out the big guns and run the nitrous. with out of the box jets for a 350hp shot, the power went to 998HP, now that was far to close to just walk away. 1 degree of timing put us at 1005HP.

there is probably about another 20hp if we build a better intake manifold, as the 4V manifold on these heads is about 6mm larger then the ports on all sides, so there is a big step at the head face.
also the upper half of the manifold doesn't line up with with the lower half very well.
but cost vs: power it's not worth the hassle just yet.

with better fuel we can also run upto 500hp of nitrous if the need is ever there.

now i just need to get it back into the car so we run the thing.

nice results, will be good to see it at the strip.

Should definately see around that amount with a different manifold if there is that much metal protruding at the ports.

been a while comming I know.
We have had the car at the track, Being that we don't have the nitrous controller setup yet we didn't run the full amount of nitrous.works out to about a 180shot (in the interest of keeping the C4 alive)

the car has run 9.87 at 141mph. Same as before it drives to the track and we bolt slicks on. It races with the full street exhaust system and air cleaners.

It's lazy to about 100ft after that it really starts to move. Still a 'safe' tune though, next time out we'll lean on it a little bit more. We don't want to push to hard to soon and hurt something.

Good stuff mate. What is she 60 footing at? Those power skids looked awsome smoking it in top gear
I/m keen to get back to Tsville, but still need a cage in the XD first.
Any recomendations who to get to make one?

60ft is still high 1s we'll be happy to get it down to 1.5/1.6
the rear end hasn't changed since the last engine. we now have double the power.

Those power skids are no NOS. so only about 700hp on that day.

The one good thing about a s**t 60ft. 90% of the cars we race get a fare head start on us. but an awesome thing to watch when our car run the 141mph and drives past them in the top end.

still it would be nice to get it to leave the line well. Needs new leaf springs. 20 soemthing year old 6cyl XD leafs are not the best thing.
I want to get a set of single leaf springs made for it. also have Competition Engineering stabilizer for the rear, as it loads up the right rear to much.

it doesn't drive to bad. Being a 428cu engine it still has plenty of low down. traction is a big issue though, but with 700hp with no gas, you'd expect that.

I need to build a new exhaust system for it though. It's far to loud and at duel 3 inch it's probably a on the small side

I've just spent a few nights fitting up some new parts to the XD.

Along with the direct port nitrous injection, i've just fitted a a plate system, one plate under each carby, a time delay box and a second bottle in the boot.

The plan is step up from the 180hp direct shot, to a 250hp direct shot. then using the time delay system bring the second stage of 225hp about 1.5sec after the shift into second gear.

We'll then slowly creep the second stage in sooner and sooner until the car has traction issues, then push it back just enough.

The car will be at Palmyra Dragway next weekend. hopefully we'll either run very low 9s or brake the C4.

Holy s**t, this thing is insane! It'll be interesting to see how she goes with all that extra NOS. Hoping nothing gets broken!

That Mustang looked pretty impressive too!
