Just wondering whether the ltd v8's are suposed to have a rev limiter. I assumed it would've had the same kinda limit as my ef falcon i6 manual but i tried it the other day just sitting there in park for some stupid reason and it revved slightly past the end of the tacho before i reacted and let my foot off. And also the owners manual says its speed limited at 180kmh but it doesnt appear to be. I know its dangerous to do but someone else driving my car got it up to 190km/h and it was still going. Anyone know why??

Blurping it in park probably didn't rev it past 6000rpm, just the tacho flying around. It should be limited to about 5500rpm I think, if you really want to find out let it rev out in first to 90k's or so. It probably wasn't doing 190km/h either, speedos aren't too accurate at such high speeds.

my ef falcon used to get to 5750rpm (where limiter is) and keep jumping up and down. the ltd definately got to bout 6250rpm and sounded like it too

just try it in gear somewhere i reckon. out on a highway, put it in 1 and hold it flat till it hits the limiter....

my EA used to get to almost 6000rpm before the limiter kicked in.

the limiter is at 6250.

i wouldnt go trying to hit it with a stock motor.. you will hurt it.

the stock windsors are so restricted with their head/intake/exhaust manifold setup that they really dont like revving that hard..

if you wanna make it rev.. put a set of pipes on it, heads, cam intake and itll wind off the tacho quite happily..

as for the speed limiter my EL fairmont didnt stop at 180 either. who knows..

Yeah there's no point in revving an E-series Windsor much past 4000rpm. It just makes noise and no power :)
