I bet some of our american members are keen on this.

These guys push insane amounts of power and torque from their engines in the 2500 to 6500 rpm range.

This year the contest features big blocks with a maximum capacity of 510.
They reckon that they will see close to 800hp@6500rpm and all on 91 octane unleaded. F**k me that's insane.

If my memory serves me correctly ford have won the last 2 years straight.

Every year the comp alternates between small block and big block of varying capacity.

Last year John Kasse won with a CHI headed 408 clevo (max class size was 410ci). I've got the interview with him on my PC and he reckons the heads were that great he was willing to take a gamble with the clevland block (they reckon its a piss weak block over there). And if he could rev the thing out harder he would have cracked 900hp. Still 700hp@6500rpm out of 408 cubes is insane.

The year before Kaase scored well (don't know if he won or placed 2nd) with a stock bore and stock stroke 460. He made about 780Hp@6500 out of it.

The year before that a guy by the name of Dave Storlien won with a stock bore and stroke clevor topped by a set of CHI EM 185cc heads. This comp is where CHI got their name from. He ended up scoring around 520hp@6500rpm.

Winner takes home a hefty pay check plus a s**t of contingency bonuses for using the sponsors parts in their engines. :Last year Kasse took home 75k US for his efforts. The comp is open to international entries and its a wonder why there are no aussies competing, even though the aussie heads are the best on the market.
