yer i would make more enquiries on it dude
the zirst can not make that much damage unless somethign else was wrong

I do remember that the herrod pipes where teh only ones ford would warrent, now not sure if they had to be fitted to the car before delivery or not either way i would be going to herrod and askign them
then calling another ford dealer or going above the dealers heads

ford may have turfed herrod now that they do their own "john bowe" gear so they can control all the profit

the last engine i did in a persuit had ss induction, throttle body and full pacey extractors and exhaust. dropped a timing chain tensioner and sent parts through the motor. took a while but fpv sent a new motor, all covered by extended warrenty. the short motor (block heads) came in at a nice $19000. i know fpv dont make the boss 290 motors any more, they basically have a stockpile left to see out the b series. getting an engine out of them was hard. i hope u get u'r engine replaced, but something doesn't seem right there.

is it a full exhaust system, extractors cats ect? or a cat back?. i will have to talk to some guys at work, but as far as i'm aware the warrenty claim gets sent from the dealership to ford, requesting an engine, with an explanation of the damage and why it happened. the motor from the persuit i did was pulled down and photo's were taken and sent away, showing the groves in the crank and big ends and mains. the dealership does the work and ford australia re-emburses them for labour ect. just unsure why u'rs has been denied. as i said i will talk to a few ppl and see if there is any advice i can give.

new design. the 5.4L boss motors have been dropped on the next series of falcons. the 5.4 was imported from the us as a 4.6 i think then stroked at fpv. all motors 260 and 290 are made in the same factory. not sure y they are changing again, maybe due to cost or engine quality?

Actually a 5.4 is a tall deck engine(10.07") so they are imported as 5.4's.
A 4.6 is a short deck engine(8.93") and cannot be turned into a 5.4.
They share the same bore size(like all modulars) of 3.552" but the 5.4 and 6.8 V10 have a 4.16" stroke instead of the 4.6' 3.54" stroke.
