Hey Guy's. Got a mate with a BA-GT. He's looking at Pacie extractors just wondering if there are any opinions on the difference between the Tri-Y and the 4 into one's.

The 4-1 vs tri-y thing is probably not so significant as the size and length of the primaries, and size and length of the collector...there is much more to header design than tri-y and 4-1 ;)

Best thing to do is to see what off-the-shelf headers the quickest n/a Boss powered cars are using. You will find in all but one case, they are running DiFilipos.

My local performance guy, is telling me the pacey tri-y's are the best on the BOSS260's (adding between 25 and 30 RWKW to each XR8). He's yet to put a set on a GT.

He says it's upto 5-7 RWKW better than the 4 into 1s.

But he hasn't done any GT's. So I don't know if the improvement on a GT will be the same or not as great (they have better headers to begine with).

HM headers are currently making a block hugger type tri Y, that not only fits up to the standard flanges, but improves power from low rpm (1500rpm) to a moderate increase at high rpm, but the lower rpm torque makes up for the high kw figures, so much in fact that it kills the "others" over the 1/4 by almost 1/2 sec. For $575 there's no better buy for the boss, they are also made from stainless steel unlike pacie's which are good, but way over rated for this application.
max power figures are not always a good indication, as we drive street cars that need low down efficiency to get us moving , and often get mislead by figures that mean nothing without 5000rpm stall convertors etc

Who is your local performance guy? Ask him how many of the 1/4 mile record holding Boss engined cars are running Pacemakers...

i have both sets of pace makers the try Y are better for low down torque and street aplication and the 4 into 1 arebetter for highreving top end power unless you have good power and like giving it curry all the time try Y are the go for on the street

not saying its not true or anything, but i've never seen extractors that give 25-30rwkw :? the full exhaust on my ute prob only gave me 15rwkw. and like xr8ute said, just about all the quick 8's are using difilipos

Didnt mean to be rude guy's but havent visited the V8 Forum for a while, even though I asked the question. Mate with the GT has been talking with Simon at Extremefordtuning, he has suggested Difillipo's don't know if they are 4-into-1 or Try-Y, will have to ask that question. After christmas he will be getting the Difillipo's fitted along with a heavy dutty clutch, Edit and before/after D'yno runs. Will be interesting to see the difference.

sounds like he made a good choice :) the difilipos are 4 to 1. if he hasnt already done so, tell him to get a blue power cai before he gets the tune done, then he'll really be loving it, and if he's got the money tell him to get a 4.11 diff, they really make the boss move

I had difillipo's on my EL XR8, they were good, but lost a bit of low down grunt, and being an auto I would have been better of with tri Y's.
4-1 pipes are better on manuals from experience.
