Do you have adjustable rockers with Hyd lifters or solid cam followers????

if it's all stock. it will have pressed steel non adjustable rockers.

if you have a hydrualic cam and adjustable rockers 1/4 to 1/2 a turn preload. depending on the aplication

You'll have to remove a tappet cover and have a look to see what you have, std rockers, or adjustable rockers.

STD rocker gear will only bolt down to a set preload on the lifter if nothin is loose and no bent pushrods you will have a worn lobe on the camshaft and lifter. If the engine is STD the cam will be worn and all that metal worn of the camshaft has gone thru the oil pump and bearings.
Sorry for the bad news
