Hi guys,
I've got a line on a 302 clevo in an XB I'll be checking out over easter, and I keep hearing all these rumours that the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same between a 302 c and a 250 pre-crossflow (in this case a 2V) - Does this mean I can simply unbolt my 250 from the bellhousing and drop in the cleveland?? Doesn't seem likely but I've heard it from so many different sources (including a Ford part numbers book that seems to confirm it is the same bellhousing).

If this is so, is the flywheel and clutch the same between the two motors as well?

And on a similar but different front, what about the wiring? (we're talking 1974 here) - is the ballast resistor etc the same? Can I simply plug and play?

Thanks in advance!!

Nah mate, totally different.

If you're running a manual you can use your box, just bolt a V8 housing to it, flywheel is also different.
The Windsor and Clevo run the same bell housing though.

Cheers, thought that would have to be the case - I must have misread what they meant - probably that, as you say, the gearbox side of the bellhousing is the same.

Thanks again - any idea on how different the wiring is?

Wouldn't be much involved at all, you may have to extend alt, coil, temp etc, but not a big deal.
Change the engine mount plates that are bolted on your front cross member and the Clevo will drop straight in.
