The link works when I click on it.
As I said already the 5.0 front dress goes straight on. I'd get a Dart, World, or Ford racing block if using turbos. |

off but on topic, what is the physical difference in the blocks between 1 piece and 2 piece rear main seal?
as in what stops you fitting a 1 piece rms to an older block or an aftermarket block that says it suits 2 piece? also you've got to be a member on perthfalcons to view that thread, probably why it didn't work eboost.

IMO you have two realistic options if you are pushing 500HP or more and you want it to last
1- Buy an aftermarket 8.2" block, an aftermarket crank, rods and forged pistons 2- Buy a 351W, forged pistons, a new lower intake, a suitable sump & distributor, and probably new front springs & a small hood scoop. The former will be easier but more expensive (but could also include stroking since you're buying a new crank, rods and pistons anyway), the latter will be more difficult (more engineering required) but cheaper if you sell your old engine.

distributors are different? how?. To me the 351w option seems easiest, just bit worried bout if ittl fit between guards?
I have two efi engines but only willing to part with my spare, ive listed it in the for sale forums, or to swap for 531w. |

5.0 distributor shaft OD is .467", 351W is 0.531". This is the OD where it locates in the block and acts like a bush to stop the shaft wobbling. The oil pump driveshaft hex is a different size. Length is also probably (I don't have one to confirm this) different as the deck height is 8.2" v's 9.5".

No actually late 5.0 shafts have the same 0.531" diamater. It was only early 289/302's(point type and duraspark carby engines) that had the .467 shaft. And it's actually the diameter where the gear is mounted not the pilot hole portion that's below the gear. 5.0's have a 1/4" drive shaft and 5.8's have a 5/16" The hole in the block for the distributor itself is also slightly larger in a 5.8. eboost, the fact that you are worrying about whether it will fit means you haven't been listening. |

Pete, grab a 5.0 distributor and measure it.... Like I said, the 5.0 has the small diameter shaft where it locates into the block just below the gear. The 351W has the large diameter shaft.
Yes, the shaft where the 5.0 gear mounts is the same diameter as 351W and 302/351C @ 0.531", but this is irrelevant from a distributor compatibility perspective.

Even so you can't use a 5.0 distributor housing in the 351 and neither can use the shaft because of the 1/4" oil pump shaft.
If you're going 351 get a 351 TFI distributor with it. |

are the 351 tfi dizzy's easy to come by. I might be getting an old 351 with non tfi??? im assuming it cant be adapted to TFI.
Also, can you tell me exactly what you did to the sump i saw in your build thread? How different is my 302 sump? Will i be able to do the 351 conv. as i have an EL k frame? thanks mate. |

Yeah F-series EFI 351's are all over the place. You know JEEEPARTS in QLD had '94-up type roller 351 shorts for about $795 with cam and lifters...he probably has 351 or 460 TFI dizzies kicking around too? TFI dizzies will fit early blocks though. You can get aftermarket 351 TFI dizzies too.
460 TFI dizzies will also fit if you change the gear but most are the remote TFI type which means you'll have to do some mods to your 5.0 engine harness. I thought it was pretty obvious what I did with the sump but ok, I cut the angled wings off(which hit the sides of the K-member) that weren't supposed to be there because I ordered it specifically from HE for an EB!?! Besides they stuck a friggin boat anchor dipstick tube in it instead of the factory 5.0 one!?!....morons! A 302 sump has a different pan rail due to the very small main caps....it's impossible to fit it to a 351. The EA-AU use the same sump so a 351 sump designed to fit a 351 EB will fit...at least IT WILL IF IT'S f**k MADE PROPERLY! BTW an old XW(or other front sump Ford) 351W pan will also fit but of course doesn't have the extra capacity and baffling of an aftermarket pan. |

ok, $795, thats sounds realistic!. Ill look em up
As for sump clearance on eb, the EL k frame is a lil beefier round the front section. You think ill have trouble there? Thanks again mate. Very Helpful! |

You may need to make your own sump because you certainly can't trust HE to do anything properly.
In fact several guys I know that have bought HE sumps lately have had problems with them cracking....their response..."f**k OFF!" |
