ok, so in summary...can I bolt up my standard 4spd auto to the 351W....?

Yes but you can't use the flexplate off the 5.0 unless you rebalance it to 28oz. Or do like 351EL did and get a 164T C4 flexplate to suit a 351. Yes 351C,351W and pre '82 smallblock fords all have a 28oz imbalance so if you ask for one for a 351 of either variety you'll get the right thing. If you already have a large bell(pan fill) C4 on this 351 you have the right flexplate already but you may need to do some grinding as mentioned by 351EL. Put both flexplates together and check.

Sweet. :) Now I'm happy. I can do that. It comes with a large bell C4. So I'll do the grinding trick. Thanks heaps XR9UTE and you others. Will keep you posted.

I haven't got mine going yet but it is all in there just waiting for time to fabricate a upper manifold.
I want it to fit under the bonnet.I am also considering putting the turtle shell back on. (Factory looking)

Just the truck one but it is just a standard 351 with a stock hydraulic cam.
It is just an experiment at the moment to see if what I wanted to do could be done.

Here's what I did but it was to fit an X-series car. probably still too high for an E-series.

Another option is to port your lower to look the 5.0 truck or Holley lower.
