hi guys

im soon to be purchasing a EF xr8( fingers crossed), and was wondering wether 200rwkw, was a fairly easy achievable task? and if so wat would be needed aside from exhaust.

i had in mind doing complete exhaust, manifold, cams, and plugs.

75mm MAF from Mr Landau and get a SVO 75mm throttle body.

I'm in the same boat as you.
I'm looking at easy bolt ons that increase power.

200rwkw is about the max for the 5L and requires a lot of work and money. You will need to change heads, intake, cam, roller rockers, injectors, MAF, TB and exhaust to get there. Then you will probably need EEC mods to tune it properly.

What kind of power would you get if you did the following to the 5.0L
Injectors
Fuel pump
Throttle Body
MAF
Extractors and Ehaust
K&N filter

Cheers
Thats about all I'd do to it.

Around 130-140rwkw maybe. You don't really need larger injectors, fuel pump or throttle body until you have changed heads/intake IMO.

Instead of those mods I would do:
Pro-M 75mm MAF
YT 1.72 Roller rockers
Extractors and Exhaust
Underdrive pullies
K&N filter/CAI setup

This should give better results and should be around the same cost if not cheaper.

What will the 1.72 roller rockers do for power?

I'm not sure which version Windsor I have in the 97 EL Fairmont Ghia so I wouldnt know what to order parts wise.

I'f changing rockers would it be best to get new springs and stuff as well?

Cheers

Roller rockers give you extra power because the reduce valvetrain friction. The 1.72 ration (stock is 1.6) also gives more vlave lift which helps too. Should see 5-10rwkw improvement with them, Yella Terra ST-2027 rockers are very good quality, direct bolt on and cost around $500. You don't need new springs because it is only a small increase in lift.

I guess I have a hydraulic lifter camshaft then and not a solid?
Cheers ED XR8.

Anything else you can think of bolt on wise that would help without changing ECU would be appreciated.

Cheers again.

Yeah the Windsor 5L runs a hydraulic roller camshaft. There aren't many other value for money mods, as I said the heads and intake need to be changed to get any decent power but they are expensive.

Yeah thats it, basically keep the short motor change the rest. With the simple mods I listed you would be lookign at around 140-150rwkw I would think, thats about the limit with the stock heads and intake. As for my setup I am scared to add it up.

I've done most of the bolt on stuff (except tb as HO intake is small anyway and the pump) and that is about all you can do on the stock engine. To really make them breathe you must have heads, intake, cam, rollers etc!! No one said V8s come cheap..

Its probably worth noting tho - that it's a very strong 200rwkw and by the sounds of it, goes all day every day and seems like it doesnt give you much trouble.... probably also worth noting that 200rwkw is a lot of power.
