Also, 5.4 motors have a bigger deck height than a 4.6...

5.4 motors are not performance motors, they come out of F-150's. Look at the US, no-one touches 5.4's, they're all 302's and 4.6's, I haven't seen any Mustangs that came with a 302W that someone has swapped for a modular motor.

This is the list of everything Summit Racing sells for the 4.6

The 5.4

And this is for the 5.0 Windsor.

I think the choice is clear ;)

Yea but our 5.4 has the quad cam 4.6 heads (in the XR / FPV cars anyway)
the 5.4 in the USA only come in the single overhead cam heads to my knoledge, like the base model V8 220 we have.

In the states you can get 5.4's in 2V, 2V supercharged(From the F150 Lightning),3V, 4V DOHC from the Lincoln Navigator and of course the very limited edition 2000 Cobra-R mustang which went like a shower of s**t. The new GT500 Mustang has an M-122 blown 5.4 with an "advertised" 450hp.... It'll have that figure at the wheels no worries.
The 4.6 is more common in stangs because that's what they came with and the new 3V 4.6 is a great engine.
There's a lot of guys starting to fit 5.4's in the states. One you get rid of the stock rods and pistons they are very tough so it's really the same as most new engines. If you really want to go nuts you get yourself a GT(as in GT40 not falcon GT) ally block and crank.

hey its funny u happened to mension the m122 supercharger on the stangs in the us... coz another reason i was looking at a different motor for the ef is coz i have had a m122 hanging around for a while and i know that its a pain in the butt fitting these big bloody things to the 302 winnie... with that nice big opening in the guts of the 5.4
and 4.6
hmmmmmm blown 5.4...

who knows it may be easier butting the AU 5.6 ltr
