Are you mad? Shed load of custom work & $$$ required & those motors are nice when new, but become hand grenades waiting to be boat anchors as soon as the warranty ends.

IMO stick to a windsor. 351w will bolt straight up to your current box & mounts, be compatable with your current computer (gt40 or aftermarket efi manifolds are available) & take almost all the go-fast 5.0 bits (eg. alloy heads). Get a 94'-95' 351 & it will be a roller cam block. If you really want a ball tearer though, put a 351w crate motor already stroked to 408ci with vic jr heads. Does wheelspin in top sound appealing?

yeah f**k the 5.4.
It won't fit, the electrics will be all f**k up, you'll have to do chassis damage even if you can get it in.
I mean think about it, the BA is a fair bit bigger than an e series, a lot taller too. And they couldn't fit the boss in without a bonnet hump.
stroked 351 sounds liek good advice to me.

Compared to the Windor 5.0, as we all know the 5.4 is massive in size, esp in quad cam form.
Im seriously not sure if it will fit.
A stroker 302 to 347 would be great i think, esp with a 6 speed behind it.

E-Series have wider engine bays than XA-XC, so it will fit with a bit of custom work, and some block hugger extractors, but the question is why?

For the same money you could build a twin turbo or supercharged 429 windsor with an aftermarket block. 5.4's weigh more than a clevo with iron heads, and a 302W is around 100kg lighter than a cleveland.

5.4's are big, heavy truck motors.

I measured it up quickly the other day and the E-series bay is wider than even the BA one. I think it was 810mm vs 780mm. Depth was harder to measure because of the bulky V8 mount on the E-series K-member so I measured from crank centre line to top of radiator support on both vehicles and they are the same. Bonnet clearance may be an issue but otherwise the 5.4 should just fall in there. The 5.4 is a smidge shorter than the 5.0 too.
As for electronics it should be pretty easy. A reflash with smartshield turned off would solve the antitheft side of things.
Still, if I were going to fit a modular I'd get an '03/'04 4.6 Supercharged Cobra engine. Shorter deck means smaller size and the power potential is enormous! Electronics wise it's similar again....turn PATS off with TwEECer.

Cheers,
Pete.

hey guys i spoke to a mate who owns a car resoration and auto body srtucturing joint and he said he could probably make it fit given the rough measurements i managed to get.
but he also clarified wat was said earlier...
the heads are a little to tall... they would make it a real challenge to fit... but he also mensioned that a option may be to try and find shorter heads and try and keep the efficiency.

is this a option or was he prob just having me on...
if it gets too hard i think im gonna go with the 351 injected crate motor..
