has anyone purchased an adftermarket MAF like the ones sold from CAPA by GMS, as i apparently need to change my MAF because the hole with the element inside is larger diametre, and is not sensing enough pressure. this problem has only occured ever since i installed paceys and twin 2 1/2" system.

Needing to change MAF because of extractors is absolute rubbish, the stock AU MAF can measure airflow from idle upto around 300kw without any problems. How did they determin you need a new MAF? What problems is the car having?

Going to a Pro-M aftermarket MAF is still a good step as they generally get better AF ratios and are more consistant but if there is a problem with your car get that sorted first, as I said I highly doubt its the MAF from what you have said. Check out http://www.fordmods.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1452 Shane does the Pro-M MAFs at a great price if you want to upgrade.

i sounds like s**t hey. a whole day was spent to determine the problem, and apparently my MAF has been changed from a screen to a bellmouth. possibly by the previous owner.

They all run bellmouth type MAFs so I just think they dont have a clue. If it occured when the exhaust was done my bet is that they damaged the O2 sensors while installing the new extractors. This is a common problem for some reason.

Exactly like using incorect sealant on flange..Silicone sealants can stuff 02 sensers...Does it go better at wot compared to part throttle ??
If you get maf go through Pro-m who add on this site...

Mnd you if there is a broken wire in maf, you need a new maf, it would be cheaper than buying the electrical part from Ford anyway" if you can"....

Here for maf... If you need one...

To work out if it is a mass airflow meter problem - disconnect the meter plug and give the car a decent rev. The ECU load tables are now running without the airflow meter - if it makes no change you have another problem and more fault finding is required. Sometimes it is just best to go to Ford and let them run the ECU annalizer on it to see what fault codes they spit out.
If your meter is faulty - I can supply you with a standard looking Pro-M meter (70mm) that will flow up to 380hp for $380. If you have any performance modifications I can supply you the larger Pro-M 75mm Bullet for $400.
Pro-M make the Grannatelli meters that CAPA sell - If you feel like paying $600 + for a mustang meter that has not been calibrated for our cars feel free to go that way. The Pro-M's have been calibrated to suit the australian cars and their specific air needs rather than just get "close enough" with the mustang calibration.

With stock heads you will feel the difference. I havent been happier since i fitted my pro-m and matched injectors. With very little other changes i am making 140rwkw using bolt-ons only. Still awaiting my RPM II manifold though. Its been 5 weeks now. raaaaar
