noticed that u could not put the larger mouthed air intake onto a V8... is there anything else that u can do.

maybe just put a pod filter on the pipe, cut a hole in the box, then have a air intake coming from on top of the bonnet..

does this sound like a good idea or is it just my brain going into overdrive?? :?

it will be for a 98 NL fairlane ghia...

You can buy a AU XR 8 snorkel for approx $45. Cheapest mod there is.

The AU snorkle won't fit ont the V8's due tot he power steering pulley. You can get around it by heating hte snorkle up and bending it slightly giving it enough clearance. Otherwise the EL GT/XR8 snorkle will fit straight on and flows more than enough for 99% of 5L's out there.

Around $40 from Ford last time I checked, they are considerably larger than the stock one. Check out the pic form an ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com.au/EF-EL-LARGE-COLD ... dZViewItem

Forget the pod filter unless you are think of putting out big kw. I wasted my money on the pod and will be going to a K&N or bmc panel filter.

If you must have the pod then go for the sequential scoop, or find another way of getting more air into the box

so u reckon the pods are no good.... why is that, i have been told that they are better than the flat panels..
K&N flat panel filters are only just better than the normal filters that are generally in the cars arent they?

Pods can give you more filter area therefore will flow more air but you just dont need it. The standard airbox with an EL XR8 snorkle and K&N or BMC panel filter can support 180+rwkw (which few people out there actually have). After that yeah you need to look at a custom pod setup, but for it to be effective you need to properly shield it from hot engine bay temps air duct plenty of cool air to it which can take a lot of work.

was talking to my mate about this on the weekend, and he suggested to have the elgt snorkel, but then also have a 3" flexi pipe coming fom air box and take it down the bottom of engine bay and stick it out under front bar, or there abouts....

is this a good idea??

just not sure how it would go with having 2 inputs...

An extra inlet to the airbox certainly won't hurt, but it also probably won't give you any extra performance unless the engien is fairly modified already.

so it wouldnt hurt to have extra inlet, or u reckon just have the one....

if just the one, which would have the better results of the two??, cause the air might flow differently under the car to were the snorkel is...
