Im looking into a crate engine assembly from rocket industries - the 514 cubic inch 625hp @ 6250rpm monster from ford racing....

Anyone purchased or looked into getting something similar ?

Also waht sorta prices im gonna be up for ? .... rockets website doesnt have pricing

Yeah big dollars. I would say the 514 cubes one will be over the $20,000 mark.

Yeah I would imagine it would be $15-20k. My friend just brought over a 502ci 600hp crate engine and that set him back just under $15k from memory.

VPW have similar engines, I think they are listed with price..You could buy Man o war / Dart block and buld it up too...

much cheaper to build it yourself and then you don't have to worry about assembly line style quality like the crate engines.

But if you build it yourself then you have no warranty if it goes bang. The main selling point with crate motors is that they are thrashers with warranty, some of them are even delivered pre run in. All you do is bolt them in, turn the key and bury your foot through the floor.

But if you know how to spin the spanners and put together an engine that can last more than a few mins then it would be much cheaper for you to build it yourself.

Yeah id say im abit too inexperienced to build it myself ... might no some people that could help tho :P

It be great to get a bit more know how when in come to the mechanical side
